Catcher Christopher Herrmann appeared in seven games for the Twins as a September call-up in 2012. He was born and raised in Tomball, Texas and is one of two big-league players to come out of Tomball High School (Troy Patton). He attended the University of Miami and was drafted by Minnesota in the sixth round in 2009. He hit well in Elizabethton that season, struggled in Fort Myers in 2010, but did well when he started the season in Fort Myers in 2011. He was promoted to New Britain fairly early in the 2011 campaign and, with the exception of his September call-up, has been there ever since. He hasn't exactly set the league on fire or anything, but he's been okay there, hitting .268/.362/.392. In seven games in Minnesota, he went 1-for-18 with a walk. He went to the Arizona Fall League and played well in his first three games, but then did not play again due to an injury to his left shoulder. The injury was reported as "minor", which could mean anything from "he's fine we just didn't want to take any chances" to "he'll have Tommy John surgery next week." If he indeed is healthy, one assumes he'll probably start this season at AAA.
