Last night's workout at the gym was my last for awhile as Wednesday morning I'll be off to the Fatherland for eight days (only 16 of the next 45 days will be spent there). I rode the bike on the hill option at level 13, one level harder than the night before. It was a harder course and it seemed harder. I was able to go 15 1/2 miles and log 562 calories, which is further than last night, but fewer calories burned. On the arm thing, I did eight minutes at level 6. I'm thinking that I should not increase time but rather resistance. That will be my plan going forward.
I haven't quite hit my weight goal for this time home, but all things considered, I am very happy with the progress I did make. I was able to break through to another level on workouts. I lost a pretty fair amount of weight. So, this was a successful time. Now, as I go on the road, I have to think about getting exercise in as much as possible.
Day 126
Weight: 224.4
Total Loss: 60.1
Percentage of Body Weight Lost: 21.12
I managed to stay constant at 161.8 over Thanksgiving. Believe it or not, I actually ate less over the holiday because we were so busy doing family stuff. Current goal - 170 by Christmas.
Got my shoulder MRI results today. I'm looking at surgery to shave some bones and flush out debris in the joint. Long-run prognosis is, well, someday I will be bionic. I'm hoping to stave that off as long as possible.
You don't want to be the next six million dollar man?
with my luck, I'd more likely end up like Darth Vader.
split the difference and go for Locutus
My life, as it has beeeen, is over.
Shoulder surgery is a bummer. I really didn't realize how much I used my arms until I couldn't use one. Even things like walking is thrown off because your arm doesn't swing.
The upshot is that, depending on how invasive the surgery is, rehab is fairly quick and you're back before you know it.
rehab is supposed to be about 6 weeks. If they have to repair the rotator cuff, I won't be doing anything for at least the first two weeks.
My rehab was scheduled for 6 weeks as well, but I ended up being able to do some stuff in 3, mostly because I was impatient and pushed myself really hard at rehabbing.
If they have to repair the rotator cuff, they would use absorbable anchors implanted in the bone. The repair apparently has a tear weight of about 40 lbs. So I would not be rushing rehab, as I'd prefer not to completely destroy my repaired rotator cuff in that event.
