Tonight is the latest installment in our ongoing series where I use trade machine to try and trade Derek Williams to the team the Wolves are playing that night. My goal is for Derek Williams to become aware of this and use it as motivation. That or David Kahn becomes aware of these posts and tries to make these trades.
Yeah, no one is going to trade for Derek Williams.
David Stern is going to take away a draft pick because Ricky Rubio is not playing
$250,000 fine for the Spurs?!?!!?! Eff Stern. I think I dislike him even more than I dislike Selig after that.
As little sense as it makes, I might have the highest regard for Selig of the major 4 league
commishescommisherscommishiicommissioners. It appears Rany agrees with me:
Is Stern going to start fining teams for tanking it at the end of the year?
The more I think about the outrage at the Spurs, the less sense it makes. To me, this is similar to Gardy resting his veterans and trotting out the B lineup for a Thursday afternoon game. I get why, if that was the one game you bought a ticket to go to, you'd be upset, but in the context of a long season, it makes perfect sense. In fact, it makes more sense in basketball than it does in baseball. With the number of teams in the playoffs, a good team like the Spurs can afford to rest its stars for a game, knowing they'll be in the post-season anyway. And, of course, the theory is that resting the stars once in a while will result in more wins at the end of the season, not fewer.
This. Exactly this. If the NBA wants to have a zillion games and get all the money associated with all those games, they should be prepared for teams to rest players and/or "strategically" lose games for playoff and draft positioning.
A quarter-million dollar fine for a coach doing his job in what he feels is the best way? Just ridiculous.
This Spurs maneuver was especially savvy because of who the opponent was. If the Spurs lose that game, no biggie, there probably aren't any tougher games for them on paper in the entire schedule. But, the fact that they almost won without all their good players might plant a little seed of doubt in the Heatles.
Pretty excited for a game that ends before 1 am EST, you guys.
This is a terrible idea.
Malcolm Lee is not playing because with a sore groin.
awesomesauce.
I can think of better starting back courts than Luke and JJ.
....yeah. Some match up problems or the Wolves so far tonight.
If Kevin Love shoots the ball 25 times tonight I would probably be fine with it.
it seems like the Bucks have about 10 offensive boards
You know what? Until Rubio gets back, this Wolves team is not especially likable.
it have likeable players, but its not very attractive to look at right now.
Love and JJ are whiners who don't get back on defense. Shved looks like someone I would hate if I saw him on the street. I am not saying I don't like them, I am just saying that if I didn't root for the Wolves I would really hate them.
Also Derek Williams is on the floor right now. He is pretty unlikable. Also, he has braces. If I saw a guys who looked like him at a bar, who was 12 inches shorter, I would probably make fun of him all night.
To be clear, I would make fun of him with my friends... quietly... from across the room.
and the Wolves are paddig the o-Reb column too. jeesh
in a game Wisconsin would love, Georgetown beat Tennessee 37-36.
Pek! had a huge first quarter: 12-8
This Bucks broadcast is painful.
According to the Bucks broadcast that JJ buzzer beater was under duress.
Barea?!?!?!
Looks like the first half went well. Time for the patented 12-point third quarter!
you were close. The Wolves scored 11 π
PEKBLOCK
i am unhappy with the past couple minutes.
its going to be great once Love starts hitting those threes on a regular basis
ooooooooohhh
ouch
Larry Sanders with 10 blocks. oof
Luke Ridnour has played a decent game today
I wanted to watch and make snide comments about this game, but I'm finding that a walking trinket makes such things really hard to do. Glad to see that things have at least gone reasonably well.
tonight?
Oh yeah, sorry. I meant just tonight, for the Wolves at least. Not so much for the trinket, since she fell down the stairs. (she's ok, but it still sucked.)
i couldn't remember if i saw mention of that before or not.
yeah, Pete's increasing mobility is an increasing problem. his favorite thing to do now is to attempt to climb on top of and stand on everything, regardless of the precarious nature of his position. gah.
So I recall from his beanbag skill.
Trinket has been walking for about 3 weeks or so, now. I never really said much about it, because there wasn't time to stop to type.
dude, it's gotten so much worse. good luck with the trinket.
just wait until they start driving.
SHVED
He's my new favorite player until Ricky comes back.
he was ballin tonight. good defense, some great passes, and clutch 3s
also, FWIW, the Girl's team won by 30 tonight. Girl scored six in about a half. The varsity, on the other hand, lost by 30.
So, they played the varsity?
might have been a closer game for both.
actually, I got the score wrong. We won our game by 41. We were playing the local Christian school. Pretty much all of their sophomore talent is on their varsity.
our varsity actually played an even third quarter. But it is going to be a long, long season for them. No height, weak ballhandling, poor shooting.
