Game summary:  La Guaira scored once in the sixth to break a 3-3 tie and got two insurance runs in the eighth.

Zulia:  Freddy Galvis (Philadelphia) was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one.  Gerardo Parra (Arizona) was 2-for-4.

La Guaira:  C. J. Retherford (Dodgers) was 3-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one.  Salvador Perez (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

ARAGUA 14, MARGARITA 6 IN ARAGUA

TwinsOswaldo Arcia (Aragua) was 1-for-5 with a three-run homer, scoring twice.  Josmil Pinto (Aragua) was used as a reserve and hit a home run in his only at-bat.  Angel Mata (Aragua) retired the only man he faced.

Game summary:  Aragua led 4-0 after three.  Margarita scored three in the top of the fourth, but Aragua came back with three in the bottom of the fourth and was never threatened again.

Margarita:  Javier Brito was 2-for-3 with a walk and scored once.  Dave Sappelt (Cubs) was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.

Aragua:  Hector Gimenez was 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, and a walk, scoring four times and driving in five.  Alex Romero was 2-for-3 with a double and two walks, scoring three times.

ANZOATEGUI 4, MAGALLANES 3 IN ANZOATEGUI

TwinsDeolis Guerra (Magallanes) surrendered two runs on three hits and a walk in 1.1 innings.  Bruce Pugh (Anzoategui) pitched a perfect inning.

Game summary:  Trailing 2-1, Anzoategui scored three in the seventh, taking the lead on a two-run single by Jose Gil (Baltimore).  Carlos Maldonado (Washington) homered in the ninth to cut the lead to 4-3, but the tying run never reached base.

Magallanes:  Eliezer Alfonzo was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Paul Oseguera gave up one run on eight hits in 4.1 innings, walking none and striking out four.

Anzoategui:  Jose Castillo was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Gil was 3-for-4 and scored once.

Game summary:  Trailing 2-1, Lara scored once in the eighth and once in the ninth.  Guillermo Quiroz (San Francisco) delivered the game-winning RBI single.

Caracas:  Luis Angel Sanz (Pittsburgh) struck out three in 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits.  Josh Kroeger was 2-for-4.

Lara:  Raul Rivero pitched 4.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and a walk.  Paulo Orlando (Kansas City) was 2-for-4.
