  1. John Lannan, who by many metrics compares favorably to Kevin Correia, just received a one year deal from the Phillies for $2.5 mil + bonuses.

    Yep.

  2. without the Twins, 1500ESPN is making a whole bunch of changes. Moving Reusse and Mackey to drive time, Sooch to midday, new partner for Judd (Dubay?) and Mackey says he is not on the Twins beat anymore (but will still write Twins columns)

  3. I'm watching The Wire for the second time as I ride my trainer in the basement. I am pretty sure the moment the show goes from "this is pretty good" to "Wow! this is amazing" is somewhere in episode 9 of Season 1.

The Deal: Williams for Shannon Brown

        Atlanta Hawks
The Deal: Williams for Anthony Morrow and John Jenkins

        Sacramento Kings
The Deal: Williams and Barea/Ridnour for Marcus Thornton and Isaiah Thomas

        New Orleans Hornets
The Deal: Williams for Austin Rivers and Jason Smith

        Detroit Pistons
The Deal: Williams and Ridnour for Jason Maxiell and Austin Daye

I would take the first two but I don't see why any of these teams make these deals.

        1. As an authority on fake Derek Williams trades I feel qualified to make that statement.

        2. I think I'd be okay with the first three deals, but I really like the Hawks trade. I'm sure whatever happens will be much less exciting than any of those.

          1. The doctor will confirm my suspicions but you do not want Marcus Thorton on this team.

            1. Yeah, I'm more excited about Isiah Thomas replacing Ridnour in that trade than the other, "main" part of it.

                1. Isiah- $762,000 this year, $884,000 next year
                  Luke- $4.3 million this year

I like Luke. He's actually having a bit of a bounce-back season so far, with his WS/48 right now (.145) the second best of his career, after the .168 he posted his last year in Milwaukee. It's always good to move someone when they are having an up year, right?

Thomas looks like he's a little worse than Luke defensively (yikes! Probably because he's 5'9" as compared to Luke's 6'2"), but he seems to be a slightly better shooter by both eFG% and TS%. I wouldn't mind a cheaper, younger backup already signed for next year.

Yeah, I'm a little bored today- does it show?

                  1. With the Wolves lack of depth at two guard I would be reluctant to move Luke since he has shown he can at least fill against other teams twos. JJ cannot and Isiah will not be able to either with his size.

Don't take this as me saying the Wolves should play Luke at the two. But they have shown they will, with a healthy Rubio, for long stretches last season. If one of the back ups gets sent out if has to be JJ.

                    1. Yeah, I'd much rather it was JJ traded away than Luke. Barea's contract is... um... awful? That may be a bit strong, but $4.5 million this year, next year and the year after (I'd assume there may be team options involved) is too much to pay for what Barea can do.

        3. that Kings deal is one that would make both teams worse.

          Almost.

Thornton is excellent and would be a nice fit on a team with a point guard. But Isiah Thomas is...not good. And the Kings already have a logjam of mediocre 4s and 5s.

  4. I am having serious computer issues. This may result in winter league reports being somewhat haphazard for a while. Just wanted to let you know.

  5. Edit: - Gotta use the "embed tweet" link from the tweet's page. httpv only works for YouTube. - Mags.

    1. Thanks Mags! It would seem Heyman doesn't remember R.A.'s time in the Metrodome.
