I like this list.
This list looks a lot like something I'd pull. A. Lot.
Also, "Angel of Harlem" would have been my 13th song if I did a triple bonus.
Monday, Monday--The Mamas and the Papas
Baby Will Roam--Rusted Root
Boy or Girl--Bow Wow
No One Knows--Green Day
Name--Goo Goo Dolls
Cecilia--Simon and Garfunkel
Henry--Grateful Dead
All That Matters--Ke$ha

Nothing like a good ol' Dead-DPs-Midler streak (in any order).
Too bad Ke$ha (which I pronounce "Keh-dollar-hah") broke it up.
(I listened to like two or three of her early singles and thought they were really bad, has she improved or can I keep dismissing her on the basis of those?)
Nicely done. Best wishes on the upcoming addition. I'll be thinking of you folks on Monday.
I missed it.
Good luck on Monday.
yup, me too. very well played, and best wishes indeed.
Yeah, Beau wins this week.
And Monday.

Thought you might find this interesting. Check out the other three tracks that the guy has shifted to a major key as well.
Someone put up a link to the REM one the other day, and I listened to it but didn't get it since I have no real familiarity with the song. I'll check this one out, since I'll actually be able to tell a difference.
If on fb, that was me. I didn't want to over-do it, so I only chose REM. I probably listened to both songs equally.
Oh yeah, it was on FB. No wonder I couldn't remember it that well.
Oh yeah, it was a day or two ago, no wonder I couldn't remember it that well.
This - for sure.
I had seen a link to that from somewhere and got curious after I walked away, and now I have no idea where I saw it. Wasn't Facebook, wasn't here, and I think if it was on Twitter, I might have clicked through or saved the link or something.

I do. I love the Muppets so I had to buy it when it came out. It is pretty good.
A few of the songs are meh, but most of it is pretty good. Some of the covers barely change the original which strikes me as not really being the point of a cover.

*Notes:
T. This is one of the hip-hop classics I know by heart. The one time I recorded myself singing/rapping, this was the song. (Heavily affected.) I should really find that tape. It was my own beat: based on a massacred "Funky Drummer" sample and a snippet of Xenakis.

I must hear this beat.
Dido.
Trido.
Well, I think I have a piece of that on CD, which would definitely be easier to rip. I'll scrounge my boxes of CDs in the basement and see what I find. Maybe I'll feature it next week.

2. "Mack The Knife" - Bobby Darin
3. "Mushaboom" - Feist - Let It Die

10. "Violet Hill" - Coldplay - Viva La Vida
Bonus: "Walkin' On The Sun" - Smashmouth - Fush Yu Mang
Double Bonus: "To Love Somebody" - The BeeGees - Bee Gees' 1st
2. This is one of my favorite songs of all time, if not my favorite. Top 5 for sure.
3. This song was instrumental in my developing a love for independent music.
6. Insane. I way overplayed the music from Moulin Rouge when I was in college, but I hadn't listened to this song for probably 5 years. It was pretty awesome actually.
10. My appreciation for Coldplay has been receding again lately.
B: Ouch.
DB: Usually I'd say ouch at the BeeGees too, but this song is really good.
I would have never guessed in a 100 years that Philo had Handsome Family's Milk and Scissors on his i-pod.
In fact I would have thought that O.K. Go and The Handsome Family on the same i-pod would have caused some sort of matter/anti-matter flux situation, leading to a constant burning out of the i-pod battery.
I'm not particularly discriminating. If it's a good song, I'll add it. That's the only O.K. Go song I have. That's one of only 2 or 3 Handsome Family songs I have. Treating artists as absolutes bothers me.
OK Go has some goodish stuff. 'White Knuckles' is pretty good, the one you posted is good, 'Here It Goes Again', beyond the great video is pretty solid, 'Invincible' is fun.
They'll always be known for their videos. That's fair, but their music (while on the generic side) doesn't usually suck.

High praise indeed.
Heh, sometimes you just want a ham and cheese sandwich, you know?
Mmmm....ham & cheese. Is it
Thurslunch time yet?3. "Mushaboom" - Feist - Let It Die
i have the reminder, and i just picked up metals and started listening to it last night. i've decided that feist reminds me of sarah johnson. it's interesting, well-constructed, sometimes quirky, sometimes dark, but you can always tell it's her, and there's a current of sameness in each song. they even kind of look alike.
That is a fantastic parallel. Assuming you mean Sarah Wreisner.
yeah, that's the one.
That's...wow. I'll never look at Feist the same way again.
I know. Now I'll always picture her with Cheetos.
So you guys are saying I would enjoy listening to Feist, eh?
I laughed
Dido.
I do think it's worth remembering that of the three writing games she's played, the one that I judged is the one she didn't win!
well, that's only because you like me better.
#6: I wished there would have been more of the movie performance in the soundtrack version. Satine's actual vocals don't make the CD IIRC.
Yeah, if I recall correctly, the two were very different things. I was ok with that, I think.

This song is so, so good.
i got this, listened to it a couple times, and haven't really picked it up since. maybe time to give it another shot.
I mean, they're not nearly as good as the bands they are (very, very clearly) inspired by, but they're still good. That particular song, though, is wonderful.
I'd much rather listen to The Field Mice if I'm in the mood for that sort of stuff. And now I am,
with no Field Mice records here. A true tragedy.Apparently there's some on Spotify. Not the really wonderful reissues, but it'll do in this pinch..

Great, great song. I usually play 'Walking' and 'Red and Purple' back-to-back, even on shuffle because of the seamless way they tie into each other. Both great songs, but they're the only two that really caught my ear from Dodos.
Played back-to-back...hmm, I could see that. As for the rest of their stuff, mostly just fine by me. Haven't listened to No Color yet, but Neko Case providing some vocals is a good thing in my book.
Saw Jonathan Coulton when he opened for TMBG a year and a half ago; he's embroiled in a Fox/Glee imbroglio...
I found this Husker Du song today, and enjoyed it.
[h/t Uproxx]
I think I had the 7 inch of this song and Data Control. It can be found now as a bonus track on Everything Falls Apart.
Shoot couldn't find it. I think I had that single. Must have lost it. I posted photos of other old school 45s I did find on Facebook.
