Saw this at B&N last night. Someone was very inspired by Jeff's 162-0 proclamations:
Yeah, I've browsed through it before. Interesting stuff, but the writing wasn't strong enough for me to want to buy it.
Where are we at for keepers and draft stuff for the fantasy baseball league? Can we see the keepers soon, so as to plan for the draft (plan... hah. It won't matter!).
Keepers were due Friday evening and the draft is set for the 24th at 1:30 PM CDT.
Wasn't sure we were sticking with that for the draft time. I think it works for me.
I can't make it at that time. If we could move it back an hour or more, that would be great.
I am also cool with moving it back an hour. But if it's "more" then a lot more would be preferred (8 or later central).
I'm cool with an hour. If it's 8 or later, then I would prefer moving it back to Saturday.
Now that I actually read and think about what you said, I agree. Being able to see whose been reserved already would be useful.
There were a couple of people who hadn't gotten me their picks or submitted invalid ones (can of corn - please check your email!!), so I'm still approving the keepers. After that, I'll lock those players so you can browse the player pool. Alternatively, all of the kept players are visible on the spreadsheet (look in column 2012 keepers for the X).
As for the draft, I am fine moving it, but I'm not sure what would be best for everyone. I'll make a poll tonight and post the link on the league site.
For the poll, does the ranking go 1-8 or 8-1 for best to worst?
I went 1-8.
The Wolves quest for a top 5 pick continues tonight against one of the teams ahead of them in the sweepstakes. With that in mind, I fully expect a Wolves win.
basketball-reference has the Wolves at 61% win probability
H Jon Benjamin (the voice of Archer) is voicing a Coke Zero commercial that will probably air 750 times during the basketball tourney. awesome
Turkey Tubby failed his way into the NCAAs (11 seed playing UCLA) and a $100,000 bonus.
UCLA is very beatable. That's a good spot for the Goofs. Too bad about Florida in the second round, however.
I am not picking the Gophers.
and/or Georgetown after that.
did someone make a WGOM bracket (Yahoo? ESPN?) if not, I'll make one
spooky did. check your email. You were in last year, right?
I didnt see an email. I hope I didnt accidentally deleted it
I never got one either. Anyone want to send out the league ID?
number 24448: Basket and Ball Guys
run up a flag on the pole to spooky for an invite. He's the commish. Yo, spoons!
Definitely sent them to all of you. Check the link on the new CoC. It's there.
Indiana 1 seed
Michigan 4 seed
Wisconsin 5 seed
Wisconsin's record vs. Indiana & Michigan 4- 0. I know it's a lot more involved than that, I just find it amusing.
Sounds like an additive property to me. Did Goofs beat all three plus another #1?
I dont think I can handle watching the Wolves with Rubio, Pek, and Kirilenko
OMG offensive rebounds!!!!
this is awesome
Sweet Lou Amundson is playing for New Orleans. And he is getting 1st quarter minutes
Sounds like Teixeira will be out for the first couple months of the season at least. I wonder what the Yankees would offer the Twins for one season of Morneau? Especially if they put more weight on what he's doing this spring than what he did last year.
do they have anything in their farm system?
they tried to coax Derek Lee out of retirement, so they sound pretty desperate
Sickels ranked them #14 farm system.
BA's Top 100 list has four Yankees, but three are outfielders. The other is a catcher, Gary Sanchez (No. 57). He was 19 when he made it to the FSL last year.
trade for the catcher, move Mauer to third.
Trade Mauer for proven Pirates/Nationals Closer.
Day 5 of going Vegan (both of us). We'll see how this goes down...
Good luck with that, bo.
Buddha Bowl tonite.
I've been maintaining the cosmic balance. Tri-tip last night at home. Friday night I had a 16-oz NY strip (ok, I lied; I only ate about 13 oz of it).
13 oz of NY strip - head asplodes.
If it makes you feel any better, I had 3 oysters, 3 super-jumbo shrimp, and about a third of a lobster tail before I got to the steak. But the steak was overcooked.
Overcooked steak is an opportunity to overapply Pickapeppa, not much else.
It was a crime against nature. Dry-aged, prime beef, cooked to medium. I was offended. Of course, since someone else was picking up the tab, I wasn't THAT offended. I also ordered and ate dessert.
for the salad course, I ordered an iceberg wedge w/blue cheese. Got an entire head of lettuce, the size of a small canteloupe. #conspicuousconsumption
since someone else was picking up the tab
Are you from New England? (loves them some free food)
Twas once wandering around Tokyo, hungry for lunch. I found a place that had an minimalist menu.
I kept asking the dude for a more detailed menu and he kept pointing to the chalkboard one that had a single dish.
I finally figured out that there was only one item for lunch - Broiled Oysters - I ordered it and it was fab.
I really thought Colabello deserved a longer look for final bench spot.
But knowing Clete Thomas was cut takes a bit of the sting off, though.
probably sent Colabello down to Roch to learn how to bunt.
Rope belt.
