Apropos of nothing (other than listening yesterday): Is Fog's "Pneumonia" the best song to come out of Minneapolis since Purple Rain (and disallowing any later Prince)? Listen and decide for yourself (Lyrics contain profanities):

"The casserole was good and the drives were so nice. Welcome to the worst part of your life."
I'd also entertain notions that "Check Fraud" (vocal version) and "What-A-Day Day" by the same artist could be nominated, but by gum does that turntable solo kick ass and flip genres. Basically, it's a Neil Young-type ballad with record scratches for drums and guitar solo. I saw Broder play this once at First Ave, after I had become familiar with the album. I was mesmerized.

Stream of a collaborative concert with Deerhoof and contemporary classical group Ensemble Dal Niente
You can read more about the concert at the link.
Jace Clayton (DJ /rupture) is releasing an album that remixes some of the minimalist piano works of Julius Eastman. You can listen to the album here (only available through the weekend).
I liked it quite a bit.

****Cousin of a really good friend of mine.

Heh. He's a tool, but I like about six of his songs.
This.
Yup. Talented with the 6-string too.
I can appreciate that about him.
A free mixtape from "I Care If You Listen" an indie-classical site that usually does a good job.
Haven't listened yet, but I guarantee it's worth the price.
The Holocene has been pumping out material for most of this year. The latest is Scars which is still using damaged tapes as it's source material, but this time with a more abrasive noise-oriented take instead of the ambient feel of his previous albums.
I dug this during some passive listening. I'll be downloading when I get home.

1. I've soured on a lot of Ms. Amos's stuff, but this album, particularly the singles, still impress me.
3. Just the radio edit of Mbeer run through a reverb or phasing filter. I find it interesting but it's not really that different, so not worth sharing.
7. Mid-Aughties "minimal" techno. I loved their song "Drug Queen".
8. Driving HPR to Cub Scouts on Monday night, I had in a CD of Eric Copeland music, which HPR hadn't really heard before. Some he liked, some he didn't (that's cool enough, one song he didn't like at first, one of my favorites from the RGAG EP, he decided he liked by the end when as the song falls apart). On the way back, he wasn't interested in giving me his opinion on new music, so he asked "Can we listen to the saxophone guy instead?" 7 year old requesting Colin Stetson: how could I turn him down?
B. Yeah, this should have gone on my "Best of 2012" List, as I suspected.

And two Minutemen, that's a rarity.
I had a Minutemen song this morning at home. I searched "Fog" and there was a Minutemen song right after Meat Puppets' "Confusion Fog"
Ditto on the Beck comment.
2012? Did Spooky do today's Music post?
1. "Old Yellow Bricks" - Arctic Monkeys Favourite Worst Nightmare

When "The Noose" gets to the "with your halo slipping down..." part, it's one of those songs that makes me want to self-inflict hearing damage. But in a good way.
Arctic Monkeys is younger daughter's favorite band.
Is "Oxford Comma" as good as its title? Because the title gives me almost unspeakable joy.
apropos of this, I just picked up a copy of Eats, Shoots & Leaves
It's okay. Pretty standard indie pop. Probably not as astounding as the title should suggest.
I'll second this opinion. Felt that way about all their stuff. Recently heard their new single though and it's significantly different from what they've done before. In a good way.
"Oxford Comma" was like -5 on my list. (I start once I get into the office.)
I was thinking I could comment that it's probably the least offensive use of the F-word I've come across.
Also, despite DK and Phil minimizing it, it's probably among Vampy Week's five best songs. Plus it references Li'l Jon's "Get Low" while lamenting that she's picked a guy with more coal than him. A winner of a song in my book.
if the stars were available, I would have gave Fog's "Pneumonia" 9.
I really liked everything but the vocals - thanks for sharing.
Yr welcome. I wish Broder still made music like that, I tried to follow him after the second Fog album Ether Teeth but I didn't care for it at all.
I don't know. Maybe I should raid the kids' iTunes accounts and get some new music on the device.

If this list is from your account, I'd say you're doing just fine. Good stuff from 1 - 10+.
Couldn't sleep last night and followed a random string of links to the following video. I wish it went on for twice as long.
httpv://youtu.be/w7fxHk0NjZw
Dinosaur Jr, Alone (with Kurt Vile, Al Cisneros, Kyle Spence)
I remember the early days of the internet when every random string of links led to a lesbian chat room.
Back in my day, we programmed on the bare metal with a soldering iron, and that was good enough!!
Dinosaur Jr is definitely very high on the list of bands I want to see live.
