Well, folks, it was a lost month for me.
I had hoped to lose the last few pounds and keep up the momentum that I had built up over the last seven months, but a funny thing happened: things pretty much completely fell apart on the diet and exercise front. I went almost a month without a single trip to the gym, and I let all kinds of bad eating habits creep back into my diet. There were some other things that were ungood in my life as well, but today begins a new month and I start anew, both in the Fitness realm and otherwise. Last week, I had a week of vacation and my mind is refreshed. I hope that April will bring a renewed spirit.
To that end, I got up this morning and went to the gym for spin class. At 4:45 AM, the alarm went off and I sprung out of bed hit the snooze button and then nine minutes later, I crawled out, got dressed and headed to the gym for the 5:30 spin class. I could feel the month off, but I wasn't completely out of shape and I worked hard the whole hour. The heart meter tells me that I burned 802 calories, which isn't bad, considering the layoff. It felt good to get back on the bike. I came home and had my breakfast, and that was good, too. I took my daughter to school, and now I'm here, ready to get to work. Also, I feel somewhat confident that my Lost Weekend is over. So, I gave up my great eating and workout habits for Lent. Nice.
The goal for the month is to stick to the diet and burn 12,000 calories in workouts, as recorded on my heart monitor. That's 400 calories a day, on average. As of right now, I'm at 806. Also, I weighed at 209.2 this morning before the workout. I'd like to be at about 203 by May 1.
I had a pretty good month, getting better towards the end of it.
And then this past weekend hit. I was under 200 all week. I was over 200 all weekend, and am still now. I'll post more about it this week, I'm sure. Or not. Whatever. Suffice it to say, despite the fact that I'm now able to drink pop and eat out, with Lent being over, I find myself with plenty of incentive to avoid that, since I'm terrified I'll be able to just creep right back up to where I was before.
My goal for April is 20 workouts, 12 of 30 minutes+. I'm sticking with that because I need to actually count again, as I didn't last month. And I definitely didn't hit the 30 minutes+ very often, but I find myself at the point where I can run for about 25 minutes straight, so if I add a bit of lifting or even just a longer cool down, I can hit that pretty easily. Provided, of course, that I find the time.
Also, after this week, I plan on sticking to no more than 3 sodas a week. Less than every other day should be a good check on building up that intake.
SBG--Hope the other ungood things in your life will go away with the new month, too.
Nothing too serious, Padre. I got a little burned out at work and the vacation was needed, for sure. I run to near capacity all the time and sometimes, I just can't.
