2013 Game 19: Rangers at Twins

As I am sure will be mentioned every inning, the temperatures have finally matched the date. It is 67 degrees outside as I write this. Since it was 45 this morning, I dressed for that, so of course I'm going to be a bit warm waiting for the bus this evening. Thankfully it will be in the shade and windy.

Oh, yeah, the Twins. Nine wins after 18 games is more than I would have expected. Hicks going from a black hole to η Carinae A, roughly, helps; though it didn't help the Twins. Since ending his strikeout streak, he has struck out only twice while walking eight times. Unfortunately, he only tallied three hits.

What I also wouldn't have expected after 18 games: Mauer and Morneau have played in every game, and only them.

  1. 2-0 and this game might be over already

Rangers have allowed 2 runs or less in 10 of 22 games. Staff ERA is 2.76, best in AL. Second-lowest 22-game ERA in franchise history.

  2. Wild down 3-0 to the Oilers nearing the end of the first period. Somebody call Paul Allen.

  3. to those who want Gardy fired, it might be not in cards

"I'm a huge Gardy fan," Pohlad said. "In my eyes, he can hardly do any wrong. It's so early. He's had a new group of coaches with him. They're a team, in and of themselves; they have to get used to each other, too."

    1. The way the Twins do things, Ullger would just end up as manager anyways. I've never had a huge problem with Gardy but he certainly has his weaknesses.

      1. oh yeah, for the record I am fine with Gardy. But there is a segment of the internet TwinsFandom that wanted Grady gone 5 years ago.

        1. I'd be happy to see Gardenhire gone if that meant the entire baseball operations department was cleaned out as well. But that kind of thing won't happen unless there's for some crazy reason an ownership change to someone whose name doesn't start with P and end with -ohlad.

  4. Florimon is going to get Dozier's legs broken or spiked hard with these slow paced, high arcing backflipping tosses he does

  5. Doing the fan poll about RBI again? Were yesterday's results unsatisfying or somthing?

        1. people on twitter are tossing out '41-0' jokes willy nilly.

and to me, 41-0 jokes never get old.

      1. Josh Harding with a .500 save percentage so far. Which is better than Backstrom's .400 first period percentage.

        1. I kinda missed out on whats is happening with the Wolves. So Flip is the GM, but he is not, but Kahn still has an office. AWESOME
but then again, I dont think Glen Taylor knows what going on with the team.

          1. I hear Flip wants a piece of the team. So nothing doing, but somebody leaked to Aschburner, so now we have the POBO twisting in the wind and a retread holding the owner hostage for a piece of the team. Nice.

  6. Dick talking about the Tigers 10-0 lead over the Braves to mention Anibal Sanchez's 17 strikeouts. Rather than mentioning his previous high of 14, no it's that Sanchez record against the Braves is 7. WTF? Yes, obviously his previous experience against that specific team matters the most.

  7. I hope Uncle Walt can't see the results. We wouldn't want him to drink himself silly at church.

  8. ok, the story Dick Bremer was telling about the day the Metrodome's roof started to sag when the Twins were playing the Angles...sounded like a wild time! no wonder why White Sox fans continued to use the 'the grounds crew turn the fans on when the Twins bat' meme until the last days of the Dome.

  9. Oswaldo Arcia is the king of the three-run homer! So what if the rally fell short? We'll just have to settle for 152-10!
