No Plouffe today (he still hasn't gotten an error for that play) and Mauer makes his first appearance at first. Escobar is back, but at third.

too bad Escobar cant play SS and 3B at the same time.
Could happen if the Twins put on a shift.
Oh, good, luck is already in the corner of the Rangers.
you should have heard by now, you make your own luck
*starts whipping up a big ol' batch of luck*
For NBBW, that mean's making extra large batch so you have leftovers to take to work, which eventually go bad in the fridge.
YDNTALOPH!
Did the Twins feed replay that check swing? Looked like a bad call in real time to me.
more gift baserunning outs from the Rangers. *starts filling out thank you card*
nice throw by Hicks!
Runners have some water on the brain today, it seems.
Rangers color: "We'd like to wish a happy birthday to Margaret (Something), who currently lives in...Alberta...Lea...near the Iowa border."
He then referred to the metro area as the "metroplex." It doesn't bother me that he doesn't really know Minnesota, but I laughed.
Wonder what he'd do with Wayzata, Shakopee, Edina, Anoka, Faribault, Cloquet, Mille Lacs, Aitken, and Kabetogama Lake.
If you can't nail "Albert Lea," the sky's the limit!
Out here the 'tricky' town names I've run into: Berlin (pronounced 'burr-lin), New Britain (New 'Britt-en), Weatogue ('wheat-ogg), Worcester('woo-ster), Gloucester ('glow-ster), Haverill ('hav-rill), Chatham (chat-am), Scituate (skitch-you-ate), Alewife (no idea), and Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg (home of the Nipmuck Indians).
We have New Madrid (noo MAD-rid), Cairo (KAY-row), and Nevada (neh-VAY-duh), among others
Iowa also has a MAD-rid and neh-VAY-duh
In Paris (26 years ago) tried to buy train tickets to go to Rheims. I did my best to give it a go, but the train-ticket-lady kept looking at me like I had two heads.
'Rrrrrraighn' (from NBBW) seemed to work.
I think they were just messing with me.
In middle school, I dated a girl named Neh-VAY-duh. Her parents spelled it with three A's and no E's.
New Orleans is full of street names like Versailles (ver-sails), Burgundy (bur-GUN-day), and my personal favorite Milan (My-lan).
Hey guys, can we win today or something?
Twins or Wild?
Timberwolves.
They are in desperate need of a win in the front office.
better be careful what you say. Kahn might trade Ricky Rubio for a bag of cotton candy as revenge for talking to Flip Saunders
Anyone seeing Nets/Bulls as well? Good gravy.
That was almost a disaster.
Five hits already...we've been fortunate. I said the luck was in Texas's corner, but that ground rule double changed things.
I don't think Target Field has any ground rules for doubles.
...and there's more proof.
The tide is turning! This is our inning.
'error' oh ok.
ESCOBAR
holy cr@p, a rally!
Now put him at short!
A run! GOSO.
This is the leadiest lead we've had in a few games.
HICKS!!!!!!!
vaguely racist comment by the dazzleman...
Am reading 'The China Study' - the author doesn't attribute MS to vitamin D deficiency, rather animal-based proteins are the problem.
If it's only vaguely racist, it's better than he often manages.
a spokesperson was in the booth discussing MS and she mentioned something about how it often affects those of european descent, to which he replied in a smarmy tone, "isn't everybody?" she laughed nervously and said, "...not really."
I suppose it gets a lot worse, but he certainly put her in a weird position.
I wouldn't call it racist, I'd call it ignorant...which is right in Dazzle's wheelhouse.
Just so we're clear: Dazzle's wife is African-American.
so...of European descent then?
i'll pull back on "vaguely racist" part of the comment, but i still have to wonder what he could have possibly meant by that.
I think your mistake is trying to find meaning in something Dazzle said.
Just got back from short trip to Minny. Productive trip - planted 60 trees (4 new species - River Birch, Golden Willow, Red Splendor Crabapple, and American Plum) - brings me up to 64 different species of trees on the property.
river birch are lovely enough trees, but they drop a lot of twigs/sticks/small branches on the slightest of winds.
but a tip o'da hat for planting trees.
Yeah, when we bought the place back in '87, it was all just hay fields. I started buying bare root seedlings from the DNR, Washington County, and the last pack from from Chisago County. Most of the conifers have stuck - lost a lot of the deciduous trees to the deer (Juglans nigra, any kind of Malus get nailed hard by the packs of deer going from Wm O'Brien State park to the cornfields north of us). Now must be a couple thousand trees on the property - after 26 years of growth I have a nice forest.
Do you have a sheriff to keep the ruffians from hunting the stags in your forest?
Naw. Several years back some ruffians stole some Larix laricina (Tamarack) that I had lifted from some Northern bogs in the Superior National Forest whilst grouse hunting. Would I give them some lead if I caught them red-handed? Not sure.
Bulls/Nets heading to a second overtime after both teams hit shots with under three seconds left. This is ludicrous.
the Rangers starting pitchers have been economical with their pitch count this series.
Diving Dozier.
Mrs. Runner has the stock pot out; this can only mean good things
Mmm, stock pot. Just got a Le Creuset for Scandia but haven't broken it in yet.
Smackslap sighting
Why the ShankSteaks after 5-inning O'fer for Teh Pedro. Did I miss something? Blister? Hang-nail?
Hernandez hasnt pitched in about 2 weeks. Gardy said he needed some stretching out.
[selig shrug.jpg]
Triple OT for Nets/Bulls. I was watching this as a secondary thing but it's so gripping I keep forgetting to watch the Twins. What a ridiculous game.
I was watching into the 4th, but required to accompany the mrs to Ikea. #losing
Watch the horse meat in those Swedish meatballs, i.e. apply additional ligonberry sauce to mute the mental image of Dan Patch on your plate.
Vas?? Roberts Rules, please.
thats a horseapple call by the ump
Consuela-biscuit!!
WILLINGHAMMER!!!!!
DOH!!
I leave the room for two minutes to "shop" in my daughters' store, and there it goes.
Did they get you to outspend your budget?
My daughter did eventually say "Just pay as much cash as you have."
Gardy playin chess with the pitcha's. The Master.
I see we scored some more runs while I was sleepasaurus on my couch. From the comments, I take it there was a Willingham donger?
Half-marathon tomorrow morning at 9:30 in Cheshire, CT.
Ruptured plantarsis muscle swelling muchly down, signs of bruise abated.
I will do my best.
Good luck!
I've been suffering injuries all month. It's really a bummer since there have been tons of great running days this month that I've missed.
Good luck, amigo.
mc and I did a few laps of the park earlier, then I jogged it home. The weather here is absolutely gorgeous today.
Way I see it is that if you show up, you are a winner.
I'm a winner!
+10 Gleeman and Th' Geek Trivia Cards.
If Holland pitched for the Twins, would his nickname be "Dutch" or "Holly"?
Hauls.
'Tractor'
Holly.
Derek of the House Orange-Nassau
Derry. (Sounds like "Dairy")
Twinsbroadcastapedia: Wayyy back == fly ball (caught). Carom == multiple base hit. Slicing == foul.
I would not be opposed to some man-muscles here.
Baby J still oh-for-series.
Pussy-riot.
Twins baseball?
Wheelsingham
Marks scorecard KC (keystone cops).
times two.
Twins baseball!
That has to be the most awkward stolen base in the history of baseball.
oh my goodness. LOL
It's like these Rangers don't even care anymore.
Texas may be throwing this one.
Kinda early to be thinking about the draft.
what are you talking about? No errors there. EARNED run, baby.
I still didn't quite catch how that ball ended up where it did.
I'm pretty sure somebody activated multiball.
Calvinball?
Now, that's more like it. Good boy, Arcia.
Oliva-esque.
Keep him up with the big club at this point, I say.
a Baseon!
These things are starting to pop up more frequently!
wooo Hicks!
It's Carnivale!
Hicks! Man, it's nice to type that.
Ha - Twins thawing out comment by the Provi.
the shutout is in danger.
the shutout
iswas in danger.FTFY
Not that I don't like Perkins, but couldn't Burton finish this off? Does Perk really need the work?
But who would pitch the 8th in the next game???
Perk is a crysknife. Once warmed up, he must taste blood.
I know I should know but is that GOT, LOTR, STNG, BSG, or IC (Iron Chef)?
Dooon.
It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.
GOSO
LIDP please.
yeah, that's a shame
Damn. Throwing Pyrzynski out at the plate would have been such a sweet way to end the game.
Also, not sure what Hicks was doing on that play.
I think he lost it in the sun
He wasn't making an error, that's for sure!
+1 Herman Long
.500 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Victory!
puppies.jpg
Puppies.
Pedro Hernandez will be rookie of the year! He and Kevin Correia will battle it out for the Cy Young! We're still on track for 152-10!
Perk pitches to the score.
