Batting stars: Jeff Clement was 2-for-4 with a double. Eric Farris was 1-for-1 with two walks.
Pitching stars: Samuel Deduno struck out five in 5.1 innings, giving up four hits and four walks. Caleb Thielbar pitched 2.2 perfect innings, striking out four of the eight batters he faced.
Opposition stars: Carlos Carrasco struck out seven in five innings, allowing one run on four hits and three walks.
Key inning: The ninth. The score was tied at one. The Clippers put runners on first and third with two out, then an error by Chris Herrmann allowed both runners to score.

Batting stars: Chris Colabello was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Brian Dinkelman was 2-for-3. Joe Benson was 2-for-4 and scored once.
Pitching star: Andrew Albers struck out seven in six innings, giving up two unearned runs on five hits and a walk.
Opposition stars: Starter Toru Murata gave up six hits but no runs in four innings. Cord Phelps was 2-for-3 with a walk and scored once.
Key inning: The sixth. Columbus trailed 1-0. A pair of one-out singles put runners on first and second. Catcher's interference loaded the bases. An error brought in one run, and a ground out brought in another to give the Clippers a 2-1 lead.
NEW BRITAIN 5, PORTLAND 4 IN NEW BRITAIN
Batting stars: Dan Rohlfing was 2-for-2 with two walks and a double, scoring once and driving in one. Josmil Pinto was 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run, his seventh.
Pitching stars: Jose Gonzalez struck out two in two shutout innings. Bruce Pugh struck out one and walked one in a scoreless innings. Aaron Thompson struck out one in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.
Opposition stars: Matt Barnes struck out seven in five innings, allowing one run on three hits and three walks. Shannon Wilkerson was 2-for-2 with two walks and scored once. Xander Bogaerts was 2-for-3 with two walks and scored once.
Key inning: The eighth. The Rock Cats trailed 4-2. Reynaldo Rodriguez reached third with one out on a single-and-error and scored on a ground out to make it 4-3. Rohlfing hit a two-out double and Curt Smith hit a two-run homer, his third, to give New Britain the lead.
JUPITER 5, FORT MYERS 4 IN JUPITER
Batting stars: Jairo Rodriguez was 3-for-4, scoring once and driving in two. Eddie Rosario was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, scoring once. Stephen Wickens was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Pitching star: D. J. Baxendale struck out seven in six innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits and a walk.
Opposition star: Alex Burg was 2-for-4 with a triple and scored twice.
Key inning: The ninth. Jupiter trailed 4-1, but four of their first five batters singled off Dakota Watts in his second inning of work, making the score 4-3 and putting runners on first and third. Corey Williams then came in and gave up a two-run double to Ryan Goetz to end the game.
BELOIT 3, CEDAR RAPIDS 2 IN BELOIT
Batting stars: J. D. Williams was 2-for-3 and scored once. Travis Harrison was 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI.
Pitching star: Tyler Duffey struck out seven in seven innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks.
Opposition stars: Michael Ynoa struck out seven in four innings, allowing one run on three hits and no walks. Andres Avila struck out four in four innings, allowing one run on three hits and no walks.
Key inning: The ninth. With the score tied at one, Jorge Polanco led off with a single, took second on a bunt, and scored on a two-out double by Harrison gave the Kernels a 2-1 lead. In the bottom of the ninth, Rashun Dixon drew a one-out walk followed by back-to-back RBI doubles by John Wooten and Chad Lewis to give the Snappers the victory.
