Minor Details: Games of 5/15

A bad day for Twins affiliates.  Cole DeVries and Pat Dean have rough outings.  A big day for Chris Colabello.

DURHAM 10, ROCHESTER 7 IN DURHAM

Other:  The best you can say about Cole DeVries is that he got his work in.  He surrendered six runs on eleven hits and a walk in four innings.

BOWIE 10, NEW BRITAIN 3 IN BOWIE

Batting star:  Danny Santana was 2-for-5.

Pitching stars:  Blake Martin struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up only a walk.  Aaron Thompson struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up a hit and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Henry Urrutia was 2-for-3 with a double and scored once.  Ty Kelly was 2-for-4 with a run and three RBIs.

Key inning:  The second.  In a scoreless tie, the Baysox scored seven times.  Caleb Joseph led off the inning with a home run and Brandon Waring hit a two-run homer to make it 3-0.  Neither homer killed the rally, as a single, a walk, and a single loaded the bases, a walk brought in the fourth run, Niuman Romero hit a two-run single, and Joseph finished the scoring with a sacrifice fly.  The damage was done off starter Pat Dean, who lasted only 1.1 innings and gave up seven runs on six hits and two walks.

DUNEDIN 5, FORT MYERS 4 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Kennys Vargas was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Aderlin Mejia was 2-for-3 with a walk and scored once.

Pitching stars:  Tom Stuifbergen pitched four innings of relief, giving up two unearned runs on five hits and no walks.

Key inning:  The ninth.  Dunedin led 3-2 and scored twice on an error, a double, and a walk to go up 5-2.  In the bottom of the ninth, Vargas led off the inning and scored on an error.  A hit batsman put runners on first and second and an RBI single by Eddie Rosario made it 5-4, still with none out.  A bunt failed, leading to a force out and keeping runners on first and second with one out.  A strikeout was the second out, Mejia walked to lead the bases, but Stephen Wickens struck out to end the game.
