Game 48: Twins at Brewers

Mrs. Twayn: Turn on the TV, the game's on.
Twayn: No it isn't, the game's not on until tonight.
Mrs. Twayn: Turn on the TV, the game's on.

In other words, I spaced out the early game time.

  1. so the Twins leave Joe West in Detroit and move to Milwaukee to get Angel Hernandez. awesome.

    1. Mauer bats third, and immediately the Twins score a first-inning run. Is that Gardy a genius or what?

      1. that was Mauer's 30th run scored this season, far an away the team leader (Willingham, Morneau are next with 21). he only has 15 rbi.

  2. Gomez hitting .326/.368/.576 this year. Only took five years for things to click. Fortunately for him, since he came up so early he can still have a lengthy career.

  3. I still can't get over the sight of Gomez taking pitches. I realize he's still not drawing walks, but it seems that he's now at least willing to not swing at everything.

  4. need a triple play in the first inning.
strap em up, this might be a long bumpy ride

  5. Provus said that the Brewers regular second baseman is hitting .174 like that's a bad thing.

  6. Did Dazzle just say that the pitcher threw a pickoff throw "to the backstop"?

  7. Dozier needs to get on base more because he is about the only one the steals a base.

    1. before today (this season): Dozier had 4 SB and 3 CS.

Let's just stick with "Dozier needs to get on base more"

  8. Meanwhile in Rochester, Vance Worley threw a complete-game, five-hit shutout against Lehigh Valley today. He walked four, struck out four, and threw 119 pitches.

  9. Because I'm lazy, does anyone know what the Brewer's farm looks like? I was asked the other day of its harder being a Twins fan than a brewers fan, and i suspect that it isn't.

      1. So it sort of looks like my answer should have been, nope, it isn't as hard.

  10. If having a third catcher is so important in a National League park, how come all National League teams don't have three catchers?

    1. because all teams dont have a quality 3rd stringer like the Twins have in Drew Butera

  11. Dazzle: "We're gonna have problems, because Angel Hernandez is the umpire at second base."

    1. In all seriousness, it's an embarrassment to major league baseball that every well-informed fan knows that Angel Hernandez is incompetent, and yet he continues to umpire major league games.

        1. Yup, I laughed hard at this- then I had to try to explain it to my kids, which was almost as funny.

  12. Bremer: 'If you are a Twins fan, get on your knees and pray Angel Hernandez does not review this.'

  13. I'm not sure what happened to that deal that we weren't going to risk Morneau in collisions at home plate, because it seems like he's been involved in a lot of close plays at the plate this season.

  14. Vavra sending Morneau home finally get an out. It was only a matter of time.

  15. Mauer has another 3 runs scored game, his third of the year. He only had two last year.

  16. Gardy's lineup changes are being given credit for the Twins scoring six runs yesterday. Therefore, I assume the pitcher will be batting ninth in every game the rest of the season. You can't argue with success, right? We're still on track for 134-28!
