  1. I don't know what this says, or about whom it says it, but when I was a kid, even though I really didn't watch car racing or care about it, we always watched the Indianapolis 500. Yesterday, I didn't even realize it was being run until I saw a crawl on ESPN telling me who had won.

    1. Growing up in Indy, we always watched the 500 (or at least listened on the radio while sitting on the back porch where you could hear the Speedway off in the distance). I don't give 2 shakes about any form of motor racing, but I watched the last 50 laps or so yesterday out of what I guess what habit.

      1. I never knew the exact number, but checking just now on Google Maps, our house was 2.19 miles as the crow flies from Turn 3.

    2. I have no love for, or interest in, NASCAR, but it was also a must watch event at the slaughterhouse.

  2. I watched Beasts of the Southern Wild last night. It is amazing that such a young girl had that much screen time. I realized that she was the star but didn't know that they would put that much weight on her. She was great.

  3. I’m not entirely sure why he needs the job.

back in minneapolis, i once worked with a young man with the last name of "cargill". he most definitely did not need the job.

    1. I know it sounds a little weird, but I feel sorry for those people. It is tough enough to show up for work some days when you need the job. I can't imagine having that thought in the back of my head that I could just not show up.

      1. That may depend on how you were raised and what expectations are placed on money. For example, I lived with my dad during the summer while in college, but it was under the condition that I worked full-time. I also know that if I had done something stupid like get myself arrested for underage drinking, the chances of him bailing me out would have hovered around zero despite having the money to do so.

      2. Having been employed by someone who did not work for anyone else a day in his life and who ran the company like his own little fiefdom, I'm of the opinion that working for others is invaluable, even if it's not a financial necessity.

    2. I’m not entirely sure why he needs the job.

I don't see where it's our place to decide what job someone does or doesn't need or how they chose to spend their money.

  4. If anyone's interested, the Crystal Palace-Watford playoff is on right now. Winner goes to the Premier League next year, lose stays in the Championship.

  5. Mike Berardino ‏@MikeBerardino
Turns out Wilkin Ramirez DID have a concussion. He threw up 20 minutes into the team flight to Milwaukee. "The doctor was right," he said.

    1. This is probably a bit of a strawman, but in the NFL, that doctor would be fired.

  6. Picked up a bottle of this as a celebration of both memorial day and the steaks i made today. I do not share the overall opinion of BA, as is often the case these days.

      1. I was gonna say "who the hell is Steinhaus Brewing", and then I realized that I've purchased some at Trader Joes in the past. Steinhaus == Firestone Walker.

    1. Tony Parker: Our League’s Invisible Superstar.

No kidding. That guy is phenomenal. Chris Paul is a stud, but I think I prefer Parker.
