Diamond (3-4, 4.96 ERA) vs. Figaro (0-0, 3.40 ERA)
i'm really every other week terrible at this game log thing, eh?
Anyway, the Twin's ace gets the start today against some guy who I'm told is making a spot start. Hopefully, that bodes well for the Twins offense.
Somehow I missed it, but when did the insanity of the 13-man pitching staff return? WHY?!
because Gardy couldn't get the third catcher brought up?
Now he's got the third catcher. So will they send down a pitcher or the third catcher tomorrow when Plouffe comes off the DL?
I'm going to guess no.
Along with Mauer batting third. Gardy went crazy with the crappy team and reverted to fetal-manager managing.
DONUTS!
Good thing have the third catcher to allow Doumit to play, ever.
I finally remembered I have an MLB.com scoreboard extension for Chrome that I can enable and get to Gameday without having to navigate the MLB homepage. Well, at least it was only a third of the way through the season...
Boom boom. Natch.
Well, my intro is right so far. I hope that keeps up.
Oh, Aaron!
what a sensational catch by Hicks. wowsers!
That means he's hitting a home run tonight, right?
You called it.
Called it.
Holy crap, really? That's pretty awesome right there.
Shades of Hunter's catch.
are you saying this game will end in a tie?
*checks score*
Yes.
I love Gomez tipping his helmet. Man, I like that guy.
Dick said he saluted the Twins' dugout either before this at bat or yesterday's first at bat.
I miss him, too. I hope the twins have another guy who is as good of a post game interview as he is.
Me too. It was bittersweet for me when they traded him for JJ Hardy. The bitter has taken over after the haul Bill Smith got for JJ Hardy, though.
Hicks has the catching part down and just needs to figure out how to not land on his butt.

OH MY GOSH HICKSIE!
<---- enjoying this
Yeah, no kidding- Twins homeruns are fun! I feel like this is something we've been missing out on.
Twins have hit 5 home runs in 13 innings against Milwaukee
Local card shop got a crapton of cards from somewhere, and the owner sent two 5000-count boxes home for me to sort through and find any goodies. I'm having a nice evening so far.
I liked it better when it was the Twins batters knocking around the ball.
all of a sudden is 4-3. eep
So it goes.
...hitting the wall hard...
Mr. Diamond, Mr. Wall. Mr. Wall, Mr. Diamond.
Smalley lamenting the lack of bench players Gardy has.
Yuni Betancourt is always here to save the day.
I remember Yuni being brought up at various times as a low-priced free agent the Twins could sign and thinking "Why?".
I'm still not sure how he keeps getting starting gigs.
To be fair, it tends to be very bad teams that give him starting good. So long as a team is run like the Royals, players like him will make lots of money.
sigh
I liked this game more when Hicks was robbing and hitting HRs
Roy Smalley has an uber man crush on Pedro Florimon.
That's putting it lightly.
Ubelmann?
walks will haunt.
Go Go Gomez.

I'm old enough to remember when that was on TV. Been a long time since I thought about it, though.
Craig Counsell is hilariously awkward as an extra color guy.
Brewers feed points out that Colabello is wearing the incorrect jersey! Wow.
...
This team is infuriating.
Nice snag, Florimon.
i'm going to be so pissed when gomez wins this game.
Twins' remaining bullpen:
Thielbar
Pressley
Spursock
Dunce
What order do they go in?
If the Twins score, can Thielbar go for his first save?
This game can only end one way.
There's no Wordupthome nor Pr0f3550rF4rn5w0rth on either team's roster so I don't know what way that is...
Damnit
TWINS BASEBALL!!
I get crappy fm reception from the radio by my computer. It's so much better than the newly good reception I get everywhere else.
FM static is different than AM static, but I can imagine.
Any truth to the rumor* that the Brewers' coach is the father of the Twins' reliever?
*In my head
Uncle I believe.
segura's up again?
Florimon, good GOD.
Uncle, I believe.
solid effort by the meat of the order.
Of course the guy who has given up homers as a third of his hits would mow down the middle of the order.
I don't even know his first name!
Pressly, Perkins and Burton - should be called the Rockabilly Bullpen.
STEAL HOME!
Is PH for Pressly the best idea?
Guess so.
Thielbar or Dunce for the save?
Dunce, who I trust about as much as Capps.
If he gets this does he become proven?
The Dunce and Future King.
I'm very glad that Segura isn't having this season for the Angels.
#SuckItScioscia.
Speaking of, Twins are only one game behind the Angels in the standings.
Half a game!
Twins tied for fourth!
Mini-Sweep!
(or semi-sweep: do the next two games count as the same series?)
I hope that Bremer has another pair of shorts after that Dozier play.
I'm about 99.9% positive Braun is going to hit a massive dinger here.
That would've been a dinger in New Yankee Stadium. Thankfully for us this was in Miller Park!
PROVEN CLOSER!!!!!
yes!
Pressly just knows how to win.
Pups!
Twins' win gives hope for future.
Sounds acceptable to me though. Is it a Minnesotan/Midwestern thing?
Nope.
It is super common around here, so I always thought it was right. In the early days of my relationship with J she pointed it out a few times, I've been pretty good about it ever since.
My dictionary of choice calls it "chiefly dialect."
And in further word nerdery, I found this:

Just don't play the "irregardless" card.
Anyways, thanks for the tip.
I used to drive my wife crazy with this one. I've improved.
Were you the pedant or the grammar transgressor?
Transgressor.
adverbs can’t be plural.
I've got some work to do over lunch, but I'd like to hash this out afterwards.
yea, whatevs.
"anyways" isn't a plural. It's mostly used as an interjection; in that usage, it's just fine. Well, ok, it's still ugly.
Yeah, in many uses, interjection is more accurate part of speech.
The Twins were just toying with Milwaukee. With eight relievers, they needed a chance to get guys some work, so they told Perkins to send the game to extra innings so they could get them in the game. We're still on track for 134-28!
