Pitching star:  Pedro Hernandez pitched a complete game, giving up one run on five hits and two walks in eight innings.

Opposition stars:  Tanner Roark pitched six innings, allowing two hits and no walks.  Will Rhymes was 2-for-4 and scored once.

Key inning:  The first.  For the Chiefs, Rhymes led off with a single, Danny Espinosa doubled to put runners on second and third, and Chris Rahl hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the only run of the game.

Prospect watch:  Aaron Hicks was 0-for-4.  Chris Colabello was 0-for-4.

NEW BRITAIN 5, READING 0 IN NEW BRITAIN

Batting stars:  Nate Hanson was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.  Josmil Pinto was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.  Kyle Knudson was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Pitching stars:  Pat Dean pitched a complete game, giving up five hits and two walks while striking out five.

Opposition stars:  Jesse Biddle pitched six innings, giving up two runs on nine hits and two walks.  Anthony Hewitt was 2-for-4.

Key inning:  The seventh.  The Rock Cats led 2-0.  An error and a walk put runners on first and third with one out.  Hanson singled in one and Pinto doubled in two to make the score 5-0.

Pitching stars:  Matt Tomshaw pitched eight innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on seven hits and two walks.  Nelvin Fuentes struck out all three batters he faced.

Opposition star:  Matt den Decker was 3-for-4 and scored once.

Key inning:  The third.  Trailing 2-0, the Miracle struck for four.  Singles by Levi Michael, Byron Buxton, and Aderlin Mejia loaded the bases with one out.  Goncalves unloaded them with a double, stole third, and scored on a ground out.

Prospect watch:  Buxton was 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI.  Mejia was 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI.  Kennys Vargas was 1-for-5 with an RBI.

Key inning:  The tenth.  The score was tied at one.  Walker II singled, stole second, went to third on a bunt, and scored on a wild pitch.

Opposition stars:  Carlos Gomez pitched 6.2 shutout innings, allowing three hits and a walk.  Jonathan Leroux was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBIs.  Pedro Perez was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

Key inning:  The ninth.  The Mets trailed 4-2.  Dallas Gallant was pitching.  With one out, two singles and a walk loaded the bases.  A pop out gave the Twins hope, but Leroux singled in two runs to tie the game.  Luis Nunez relieved and promptly uncorked a wild pitch to end the game.

Prospect watch:  Rory Rhodes was 0-for-4.  Zach Granite was 0-for-3 with a walk and scored once.

Key inning:  The ninth.  The score was tied at three.  The Twins got a leadoff double from Rick Schwarz, but did not score.  For the Red Sox, Colorado singled, took second on a balk, went to third on a bunt, and scored the winning run on an error.

Prospect watch:  Amaurys Minier was 1-for-3 with an RBI.  Adonis Pacheco was 0-for-4.
