A complete game for Virgil Vasquez.  A rough outing for Jose Berrios.  The E-Twins get swept.

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 6, ROCHESTER 3 IN SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE

Batting stars:  Eric Farris was 3-for-4 with a double and scored once.  Deibinson Romero was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Antoan Richardson was 2-for-4 with a triple.

Pitching star:  Luis Perdomo pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and one walk and striking out one.

Opposition stars:  J. R. Murphy was 3-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once.  Josh Bell was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.  Thomas Neal was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once.

Key inning:  The fifth.  The RailRiders trailed 3-1 but came up with four big runs.  A double and a single put runners on first and third with one out.  A ground out brought in one run, a Dan Johnson RBI single tied the score, Thomas Neal doubled, and Bell hit a two-run single to put Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in front.

Prospect watch:  Andrew Albers pitched five innings, giving up five runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out five.

NEW BRITAIN 2, PORTLAND 1 IN PORTLAND

Batting stars:  Daniel Ortiz was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Jordan Parraz was 2-for-4 with a home run.  Josmil Pinto was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.

Pitching star:  Virgil Vasquez struck out nine in a complete game, giving up one run on four hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Terry Doyle pitched eight innings, allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five.  Derrik Gibson was 2-for-3 and scored once.

Key inning:  The ninth.  The SeaDogs trailed 2-0, but three singles made it 2-1 with runners on first and third with one out.  Vasquez rallied to get a strikeout and a fly out to end the game.

Prospect watch:  Eddie Rosario was 0-for-3 with a walk.  Miguel Sano dropped back below the Mendoza line with an 0-for-4.

ST. LUCIE 5, FORT MYERS 3 IN ST. LUCIE

Batting stars:  Matt Koch was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Aderlin Mejia was 2-for-5 and scored twice.  Jhon Goncalves was 1-for-2 with two walks.

Pitching stars:  None.

Opposition stars:  Kyle Johnson was 3-for-4 with a walk and scored three times.  Robbie Shields was 2-for-4 with a double.  Dustin Lawley was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Key inning:  The seventh.  The Mets trailed 3-2.  An error, a single, and a walk led to the bases being loaded with two out.  Kevin Plawecki then singled in two to give the Mets the lead.

Prospect watch:  Byron Buxton was 0-for-3 with a walk.  Kennys Vargas was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.  Mike Kvasnicka was 0-for-4.

CEDAR RAPIDS 5, CLINTON 3 IN CLINTON

Batting stars:  Dalton Hicks was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs.  Adam Brett Walker II was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored once.

Pitching stars:  Steven Gruver struck out three in three shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.  Tyler Jones retired all six men he faced, four by strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Tyler Pike struck out five in five innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits and four walks.  Jordy Lara was 3-for-4 with an RBI.  Tyler Marlette was 2-for-3, was hit by a pitch, and scored once.

Key inning:  The sixth.  The Kernels trailed 3-1.  Two walks and a pickoff error put runners on second and third with one out, and another walk loaded the bases.  The next batter grounded into a force out, but a throwing error allowed two runs to score and tied the game.  In the seventh, the Kernels took the lead on a walk, an error, and a ground out, giving Cedar Rapids three runs in two innings with no hits.

Prospect watch:  Jorge Polanco was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Max Kepler was 0-for-4 and scored once.  Jose Berrios pitched four innings, giving up three runs on seven hits and four walks with one strikeout.

BURLINGTON 4, ELIZABETHTON 1 IN ELIZABETHTON (GAME 1--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Batting star:  Ryan Walker was 2-for-2 with a walk and scored once.

Pitching stars:  Brandon Bixler struck out three in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up no hits and one walk.  Dallas Gallant pitched a perfect inning.

Opposition stars:  Jake Newberry pitched five innings, allowing one run on two hits and three walks while striking out four.  Kevin Kuntz was 2-for-2 and was hit by a pitch, scoring once.  Desmond Henry was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Key inning:  The fifth.  The score was tied at one.  A pair of singles and a bunt gave the Royals runners on second and third with one out, and Ramon Torres singled them both in.  A Mauricio Ramos single put runners on first and third, and a sacrifice fly scored a third run in the inning.

Prospect watch:  Romy Jimenez was 0-for-3.  Javier Pimentel was 1-for-3.

BURLINGTON 2, ELIZABETHTON 0 IN ELIZABETHTON (GAME 2--SCHEDULED 7 INNINGS)

Batting star:  Romy Jimenez was 2-for-3 with a double.

Pitching stars:  Randy Rosario struck out five in five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks.  C. K. Irby struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up no hits and one walk.  Andrew Ferreira struck out the side in his only inning.

Opposition stars:  Luis Santos struck out six in a complete game, allowing five hits and no walks.  Ramon Torres was 1-for-1 with two sacrifices.

Key inning:  The third.  It was a scoreless tie.  The Royals had two out and none on.  A single, a balk, an error, and an RBI single by Sam Bates brought in the first run of the game.

Prospect watch:  Zach Granite was 0-for-3.  Kelvin Ortiz was 0-for-3.  Logan Wade was 1-for-2.

GCL TWINS 11, GCL RAYS 4 AT TWINS

Batting stars:  Jonatan Hinojosa was 3-for-4 with two triples, scoring three times and driving in four.  Amaurys Minier was 2-for-4 with a walk and two home runs, his second and third.  Zach Larson was 3-for-4, scoring once and driving in four.

Pitching stars:  Nick Blackburn struck out five in five innings, giving up two runs on six hits and no walks.  Chih-Wei Hu pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks while striking out one.

Opposition stars:  Jose Paez was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Cristian Toribio was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Key inning:  The sixth.  The Rays trailed 3-2 when Paez doubled in the tying run and a wild pitch gave the Rays a 4-3 lead.  In the bottom of the inning, a walk and a single put two on with one out.  Hinojosa singled in the tying run and Larson doubled in two to put the Twins up 6-4.  Adonis Pacheco hit a two-out double to make it 7-4.

Prospect watch:  Engelb Vielma was 2-for-4.  Pacheco was 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI.  Jorge Fernandez was 3-for-5 and scored twice.

Pitching stars:  Starter Onesimo Hernandez pitched three innings, giving up two hits.  Jadison Jimenez pitched two innings, giving up one hit.  Carlos Aponte struck out one in a scoreless, hitless inning.

Opposition stars:  Jose Gonzalez struck out five in five innings, allowing one run on five hits and a walk.  Vicson Graciano was 2-for-4 with a triple.

Key inning:  The third.  It was a scoreless tie.  Ramirez and Dubal Baez opened the inning with singles.  A ground out scored the first run of the game.
