PAWTUCKET 8, ROCHESTER 7 IN PAWTUCKET
Batting stars: Antoan Richardson was 4-for-5 with three doubles, scoring twice and driving in two. Deibinson Romero was 1-for-3 with two walks and two RBIs. Chris Colabello was 1-for-3 with two walks.
Pitching star: A. J. Achter pitched a scoreless inning.
Opposition stars: Ronald Bermudez was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring once. Will Middlebrooks was 2-for-4 with a double and scored once. Alex Hassan was 1-for-2 with two walks and a three-run homer.
Key inning: The seventh. The Red Wings trailed 4-3. Richardson doubled, two walks filled the bases with two out, and Brian Dinkelman delivered a two-run single to give Rochester a 5-4 lead. In the bottom of the inning, the Red Sox came back with four runs. In his third inning of work, Luis Perdomo surrendered a walk and a single to open the inning and was replaced by Blake Martin. Mark Hamilton came through with an RBI single to tie the score and Hassan hit a three-run homer to make it 8-5 Pawtucket. The Red Wings came back with two in the eighth, but got no closer.
"Prospect" watch: P. J. Walters pitched 4.1 innings, giving up four runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three.
TRENTON 4, NEW BRITAIN 1 IN NEW BRITAIN
Batting stars: Miguel Sano was 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI. Josmil Pinto was 1-for-2 with two walks.
Pitching stars: Cole Johnson retired all four batters he faced, striking out two of them. B. J. Hermsen gave up one hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning. Matt Hauser gave up one hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning.
Opposition stars: Sean Black pitched six innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. Jose Pirela was 3-for-4 with two doubles, scoring twice and driving in one. Ramon Flores was 3-for-4.
Key inning: The second. It was a scoreless tie. Reggie Corona singled and Pirela doubled. Casey Stevenson drove in one with a single and a double play scored a second run to give the Thunder an early 2-0 lead.
Prospect watch: Eddie Rosario was 1-for-4. Nate Hanson was 1-for-4 and scored once. Tom Stuifbergen made a rare appearance out of the bullpen, giving up one hit in two-thirds of an inning.
LAKELAND 5, FORT MYERS 0 IN FORT MYERS
Batting stars: Jhon Goncalves was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double. Levi Michael was 1-for-2 with two walks.
Pitching star: Zach Jones struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.
Opposition stars: Wilsen Palacios pitched 6.2 innings, allowing four hits and four walks while striking out five. Steven Moya was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple, scoring twice and driving in three. Luis Alberto Saez was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
Key inning: The fifth. The Flying Tigers led 2-0. Starter Manuel Soliman gave up a walk and a single and was replaced by Chad Rodgers with one out. He promptly yielded a two-run triple to Moya, who later scored on a ground out to make the score 5-0.
Prospect watch: Byron Buxton was 1-for-3 with a walk. Aderlin Mejia was 1-for-4. Kennys Vargas was 0-for-4.
CEDAR RAPIDS 7, DAYTON 1 IN CEDAR RAPIDS
Batting stars: Adam Brett Walker II was 2-for-4 with a walk and a home run (his fifteenth), scoring twice and driving in four. Dalton Hicks was 1-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring twice.
Pitching stars: Brett Lee pitched a complete game, giving up one run on five hits and a walk while striking out three.
Opposition stars: Wandy Peralta pitched 5.2 perfect innings of relief with five strikeouts.
Key inning: The third. Leading 3-0, the Kernels scored four more to put the game out of reach. A single and a double put runners on second and third with none out. Walker II hit an RBI single, a run scored on a ground out, Niko Goodrum had an RBI single, and a sacrifice fly brought in the fourth run of the inning to make it 7-0.
Prospect watch: Jorge Polanco was 1-for-4 and scored once. Max Kepler was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
ELIZABETHTON 6, BRISTOL 5 IN ELIZABETHTON
Batting stars: Bryan Haar was 3-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in one. Mitch Garver was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Stuart Turner was 2-for-4 with a double.
Pitching stars: Brandon Bixler struck out four in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and one walk. Brandon Peterson pitched a scoreless inning, giving up two hits and no walks with one strikeout.
Opposition stars: Tony Bucciferro struck out nine in six innings, allowing an unearned run on seven hits and no walks. Toby Thomas was 3-for-5, scoring once and driving in one. Nolan Earley was 2-for-4 with a walk, a double, and two RBIs.
Key inning: The ninth. The Twins had overcome a 5-1 deficit to tie the game at five. With two out and none on, Haar walked, Rory Rhodes singled, and Garver singled in the winning run.
Prospect watch: Zach Granite was 1-for-5 with a run and an RBI. Romy Jimenez was 0-for-3 with a walk and scored twice. Yorman Landa struck out six in five innings, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks.
GCL RED SOX 8, GCL TWINS 7 AT TWINS
Batting stars: Jason Kanzler was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBIs. Amaurys Minier was 2-for-5 with a home run (his fourth) and two RBIs. Brian Navarreto was 2-for-5 with a double and scored once.
Pitching stars: Miguel Gonzalez struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and no walks. Daniel Sattler pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout. Lewis Thorpe struck out five in 3.2 innings, giving up an unearned run on three hits and no walks.
Opposition stars: Raymel Flores was 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs. Deiner Lopez was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Aneudis Peralta was 2-for-5 with a double and scored twice.
Key inning: The eighth. The Twins trailed 8-6 when Minier led off with a homer to make it 8-7. Navarreto doubled, Adonis Pacheco walked, and with one out Alex Swim walked to load the bases. Ellis Jimenez came in to pitch and struck out Kanzler and Engelb Vielma, both on called third strikes, to end the threat.
Prospect watch: Zach Larson was 0-for-4. Pacheco was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks, scoring twice. Swim was 1-for-2 with two walks, scoring once and driving in one.
DSL TWINS 10, DSL WHITE SOX 1 AT WHITE SOX
Batting stars: Dubal Baez was 3-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in one. Joel Ramirez was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two. Frank Encarnacion was 2-for-5 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in three.
Pitching stars: Starter Jose Ramirez struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks. Javier Vargas struck out three in three innings, giving up two hits and two walks. Sebastian Perez pitched two shutout innings, giving up no hits and two walks.
Opposition stars: Antonio Rodriguez was 3-for-3 with a walk. Evandert Diaz struck out three in 2.2 scoreless innings, allowing no hits and two walks.
Key inning: The second. The Twins came up with four runs to break a scoreless tie. Baez hit a one out double, took third on a wild pitch, and scored on a Ramirez single. Another single and a walk loaded the bases and Encarnacion unloaded them with a three-run double to put the Twins comfortably ahead.
