Minor Details: Games of 7/25

Liam Hendriks has pitched well in four of his last five starts.  Trevor May pitched well, too.  Byron Buxton gets two hits for the third consecutive game.

ROCHESTER 6, LEHIGH VALLEY 3 IN ROCHESTER

Batting stars:  Deibinson Romero was 2-for-2 with two walks, a double, and a home run (his seventh), scoring twice and driving in two.  Brian Dinkelman was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI

Pitching stars:  Liam Hendriks pitched 7.2 innings, giving up three runs on five hits and no walks while striking out five.  Aaron Thompson struck out four in 1.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Cody Overbeck was 1-for-4 with a three-run homer.

Key inning:  The second.  In a scoreless tie, Romero hit a one-out homer to put the Red Wings on the board.  With two out, Eduardo Escobar singled, stole second, and scored on a double by Dinkelman to give Rochester a 2-0 lead.

Prospect watch:  Chris Parmelee was 0-for-3 with a walk and scored once.  Oswaldo Arcia was 1-for-4.  Escobar was 1-for-4 and scored once.

READING 3, NEW BRITAIN 1 IN READING

Batting stars:  Daniel Ortiz was 3-for-4 with a double.  Nate Hanson was 1-for-2 with two walks and a home run, his sixth.

Pitching stars:  Trevor May pitched six shutout innings before tiring in the seventh.  For the game he pitched seven innings, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out eight.  Daniel Turpen pitched a perfect inning.

Opposition stars:  Austin Wright struck out ten in seven innings, allowing one run on four hits and three walks.  Kelly Dugan was 1-for-3 with a triple, scoring once and driving in two.

Key inning:  The seventh.  The Fightin Phils trailed 1-0.  A single and a walk put men on first and second with one out.  Dugan then tripled in two and Sebastian Valle doubled Dugan home to make it 3-1.

Prospect watch:  Eddie Rosario was 0-for-4.  Josmil Pinto was 0-for-4.

FORT MYERS 8, CLEARWATER 0 IN FORT MYERS

Batting stars:  Andy Leer was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring three runs and driving in three.  Byron Buxton was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, his third.  Aderlin Mejia was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.

Pitching stars:  Matthew Summers struck out seven in seven innings, giving up five hits and a walk.  Manuel Soliman pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and no walks with one strikeout.  Corey Williams pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

Opposition star:  Jiwan James was 3-for-4 with a triple.

Key inning:  The second.  It was a scoreless tie.  Two singles and a walk loaded the bases with none out.  Leer then came through with a two-run single to give the Miracle the lead.  Mejia later hit a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.

Prospect watch:  Kennys Vargas was 1-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring once.  Dalton Hicks was 0-for-4.  Mike Kvasnicka was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

PEORIA 8, CEDAR RAPIDS 3 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

Batting stars:  Jorge Polanco was 3-for-5 with an RBI.  Travis Harrison was 3-for-5 and scored once.  Jeremias Pineda was 2-for-3 with a hit-by-pitch, scoring once.

Pitching star:  Alex Muren pitched 1.1 inning, giving up an unearned run on no hits and no walks with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Trevor Martin was 3-for-4 with a double and scored twice.  C. J. McElroy was 3-for-5, scoring once and driving in three.  Joseph Scanio struck out four in two shutout innings, allowing no hits and one walk.

Key inning:  The seventh.  The Chiefs trailed 3-2.  Peoria led off the inning with a walk and a single and with one out, Jacob Wilson hit a three-run homer to give the Chiefs a lead they would not give up.

Prospect watch:  Adam Brett Walker II was 0-for-5.  Max Kepler was 1-for-4 with a walk and scored once.

KINGSPORT 3, ELIZABETHTON 1 IN KINGSPORT

Batting star:  Zach Granite was 2-for-4.

Pitching stars:  Yorman Landa struck out five in five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on four hits and four walks.  Austin Malinowski pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Persio Reyes pitched a complete game, allowing one run on four hits and no walks with seven strikeouts.  Jeff McNeil was 3-for-4.  Jonathan Leroux was 1-for-1 with three walks, scoring once and driving in one.

Key inning:  The eighth.  The Twins had scored in the seventh to trail by only 2-1.  In the eighth, Amed Rosario walked, went to third on a double by Zach Mathieu, and scored on a sacrifice fly to give the Mets an insurance run.

Prospect watch:  Dereck Rodriguez was 1-for-4 with a home run.

GCL TWINS 4, GCL ORIOLES 1 AT TWINS

Batting stars:  Alex Swim was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.  Jonatan Hinojosa was 1-for-2 with a walk and a triple, scoring twice.  Adonis Pacheco was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored twice.

Pitching stars:  Chih-Wei Hu struck out six in four shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk.  Jared Wilson pitched two shutout innings, giving up no hits and one walk with one strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Zane Chavez was 2-for-4 with a double.  Cory Segui was 1-for-2 with a walk, a double, and an RBI.

Key inning:  The seventh.  The Twins led 2-0.  In the top of the inning, Oswill Lartiguez singled, went to third on an error, and scored on a double by Segui.  The Twins got the run back in the bottom of the inning when Hinojosa hit a two-out triple and scored on a wild pitch.

Prospect watch:  Zach Larson was 0-for-3 with an RBI.
