ANDREW ALBERS!
(vs. some newcomer flunky named James Shields)
Dude's from Canada, FWIW, so expect him to throw the ever lovin' back bacon out of the ball tonight.

I predict a Twins blowout victory tonight
Prescient prognostication, pard.
KILLDOZIER
ALBERS SUPPORT!
MORNEAUSIE!!!!!
Andrew Albers > James Shields.
wwaallkk
Shields doesn't like throwing strikes, I guess.
ok, that Poker Table FSN/Twins are auctioning off is pretty sweet
I can't imagine paying to do grounds crew work.
I'd be bidding on the Buxton/Sano jerseys if I had hundreds of dollars of disposable income.
if I had money laying around, I would:
a. buy a car
b. go to more Twins game
c. go to Twins game in the higher end seats.
d. drive there in new car
e. buy newspaper
Stupid to bunt here when Shields can't find the strike zone.
productive out
*drink*
Big Game James apparently can't handle the pressure of facing off against Albers in his MLB debut.
I won't entirely be happy unless the Twins win by 13 or more tonight.
I agree with this sentiment.
'Saskatchewan Express' is an awesome nickname.
I see the Twins AA pitcher has no trouble transitioning to the big leagues so far.
I know I've mentioned it before, but I really get a kick out of it when a team has scored more runs than they have hits. There should really be an acronym for that, like AMR's BOSO.
MRTH. Prounounce it like 'mirth'.
Huh, that was easy. I'll have to come up with something more obscure next time.
you mean you'll have to come up with "SMONT".
WAIS
Looks like Tejada has lost a step, or six.
Colabello with a MOONSHOT! wow
CABALLERO!!!!
httpv://youtu.be/QNw7cPuwnoM
Heh. First pitch I saw.
Colabello's got some pop, wish he had a little better contact skills.
old man double!
I think Joe Mauer has a home run in him tonight.
maybe next at bat.
I was thinking he at least had a hit in him, but not so far
are Twins starting pitchers allowed to go 5 innings?
Only when they face the minimum number of batters.
So, Albers, which is it? Next Santana? Next Matt Fox?
Matt Fox faced 21 batters in his 5.2 innings. Plus he's right-handed. Therefore, obviously Santana.
Well, I was going for "one nice start followed by leaving forever," but if you say Santana, I'm holding you to it.
Dick Bremer mentions Dave Gassner.
Why would he put a curse like that on Albers?
he's the one I always remember
Blew right past that 5 inning limit. What's the last time a Twins starter pitched in the eighth inning? Has it been done this season?
Only one pitcher has finished eight innings, and he did it twice. As best as I can tell, June 11 was the last time a Twins started pitched in the eighth.
Correction. Only once before tonight has a Twins starter completed eight innings. Only three times has a starter gotten at least 22 outs.
Albers is one cool Canuck.
Shut yo mouth.
Royals feed shows a pretty fun sign held up by a young Twins fan:
W: 48
L: 61
Pretty sure we're PED-free
8 run inning?
You rang?
TWINS BASEBALL!!!!
Balk!!!!
TWINS BASEBALL!!
lol
TWINS BASEBALL!
Balkasaurus!!!
roar
Time for the Royals to be Jeremy'ed I think
I've spent since about 3 PM this afternoon trying to get Titanium to work on my laptop so I can start to learn to code mobile apps. If I was doing this on XP, I'd be done by now, but I barely understand Linux, so it's taking awhile.
Albers is the third Twins player to wear #63 in a real game. Can you name the other two players?
Whoa. I barely remembered the existence of those dudes, let alone their numbers.
Who?
I considered a careful probing of my memory, but then just hit "spoiler".
Glad I did: I wouldna had neither.
I'm hoping a leadoff single is Albers' version of hitting the wall.
So, the Fresh Prince of Lee's Summit on the mount.
Royals guys are calling him the Fresh Prince of Kauffman.
Sidebar: I think it's funny that that show was so popular, people refer to him as the Fresh Prince even after he's become a mationwide #1 box office draw.
His show and rapping career.
Looks like Spooky just don't understand.
Root canal went well today, jaw's a little sore but the toothache is gone. I don't like having to chew on just one side, but the wife's chicken pot pie makes up for the hassle. Also, got a script for Vicodin so I'm looking forward to my first full night's sleep in five days.
Anyone know where I can find that Mumford and Sons gif?
here you go.
I love you too, dear.
My search turned up nothing!
You must be using the wrong Google. Or you have some very, very strict SafeSearch parameters.
See my note below. I think I'm just conditioned to avoid certain pages.
You're a good man, hj. I was going to do the exact same.
I rescind all of my earlier feelings that this is a supportive community.
This one?
It was pretty easy to find: mumford and sons guitar gif.
always makes me laugh
Aye. It's good for what ails ye.
I swear, that page was not at the top of the google results when I searched. Or maybe I just didn't click the top result because I've been conditioned against it.
That may work for Mumford and Sons.
Does not work for Coil's "Anal Staircase", however.
Wait, it's the 8th inning and the starter is still in the game. Is that allowed? I thought that was against the rules or summit.
He's also pitched more than an inning without giving up run(s). I'm confused.
Looks like we'll see Albers in the ninth.
some dudebros in the crowd had a 'Albers For Prime Minister' banner.
awesome
They also have the letters of ALBERS painted on their bare chests. The Royal feed has shown them at least seven times for some reason.
first time Ive seen FSN show them, and it was a quick shot
Whoa, they just showed them again, but this time for a long time.
It's actually five guys with TWINS on their chest, but only four are real people, while the fifth is a cardboard cutout to complete the word.
did they buy it a ticket?
Royal feed points out that Andrew Albers would be the first debuting pitcher to throw a shutout since Andy van Hecken in 2002 (he went on to pitch in five major league games).
It's nice that Albers can sit with Morneau in the dugout and talk in Canadian. I'm sure it helps him get over the language barrier being here in the us of a.
Troy and Zap Rowsdower speak Canadian, so Canadian's fine by me.
Take off, eh.
Albers now with the most outs recorded by a Twins starter this season.
That's in combined starts, right?
Cain looked like he was out.
Extremely close in slo-mo, so I can live with "tie goes to the runner."
Kid got screwed, Cain was out at first.
yup.
C'mon, kid!
someone poke me when the next Twins SP debut happens, and I'll throw together an emergency gamelog then as well.
GOOD JOB ALBERS!
First base ump's a real hoser.
Damn it, Gardenhire, get the f(*& out of there.
No shit, we got a seven run lead. You leave him in until a run scores.
Bit earlier than I expected, but I can't blame him. Fourth time through the order, platoon disadvantage, and he was clearly tiring.
Those are all good points, but I, the Milkman, thought it would be cool to see a shutout. Shouldn't he have considered that?
Of course, he could just as easily walked Butler on four pitches.
What in Saskatchewan is going on? A Twins pitcher going 8 scoreless? Where's he been all season? And how soon before he fizzles out like all the others?
Aw, man!
...Why does Vavra have a protractor?
He's too good to have an amateur tractor?
Point to Twayn.
BECASUE VARVAS CARRER IS BEING PROTRACTED
Honorable mention ribbon.
That's the first time I've ever played along with the FIRE GARDY AND VARVA bit, and I was immediately negatively reinforced. Lesson learned.
Carroll not a hugger; opts for the butt slap.
One star pitcher to another...
Only pair on the team with a combined 0.00 ERA, right?
There's also Tonkin. But, he's back in AAA.
Woot!
Okay, so there was an ALBERS group and a TWINS group, apparently.
Albers pitches 8.1 innings and gets 2 strikeouts. Gardenhire is going to LOVE him.
Yeah, but he only needed four catches from the outfield of Arcia, Thomas and Colabello, so I really loved him tonight.
Canadian pups unleashed.
Canadian puppies!
Twins are 10-8 since the All-Star break and 12-9 in their last 21 games.
FIER GRADY AND ANDEE
despite running into the buzzsaw that is the Royals!
Seriously, what an awesome night for Andrew Albers. God knows how the rest of his career will go, but no matter what happens, he'll at least always have this one night. And we're still on track for 101-61!
