TWO of those stolen bases were on pitch outs. That [redacted] just isnβt fair.
The fourth one featured a pitchout and a pretty good throw (location-wise, anyway - I'm not sure about the actual power behind it) by the catcher. Crazy.
something funky with the embed code from MLB on that. Sean?
I'm not sure what the problem is. If you mean mixed content blocking, yes, that affects everything. Eventually the rest of the web will catch up.
It wasn't showing up at home on my browser. Seems fine here at work. I keep forgetting about the mixed content blocking thingy.
The next time someone asserts that government monitoring of you is no big deal if you have nothing to hide, refer them to this. Turns out that government employees who have the power to access people's personal information will abuse it. Huh.
This. Far too many people have become radicalized in their politics and believe that the ends always justify the means, no matter how illegal, immoral or unethical. That includes using private information to intimidate, bully and cow. It wasn't that long ago that several US Attorneys were dismissed from duty because they refused to bring unwarranted criminal charges against political candidates.
Remember that DNR guy who looked up all the info on about 5,000 people last year including people in the news, media members, etc.? Well, he also looked up Sheenie for some reason. We got the letter from the DNR. She should probably look back into whether a class action ever developed...
Since the Twins have completely suck'd the life out of me and because I have high hopes for the T'Wolves this year (meaning the best non-KG year in franchise history -- a low bar I know because last season was the best best non-KG year in franchise history), I am super excited about the upcoming NBA season.
The 4ltr is starting to ramp up. They are going to preview every player on every team. Man, that's cool. They started with the Heat. Turns out, LBJ is really good. But, here's something that you probably wouldn't have guessed: in spot up situations -- you know catch and shoot -- LBJ had the second highest point per shot total in the league last year. Better than Korver, Nash, and Curry! That's almost unfair.
I'm over his Decision and I'm also over Dwight Howard's nonsense. I'm not going to root for Howard, but I'm also not going to root against him, and really, I'd kind of like to see McHale succeed. I'm also over Carmelo Anthony's bolting from Denver -- I just dislike him because he plays for the Knicks (sidebar: did anyone see who opened for the Eagles last night? Jimmy Dolan's band. His company is sponsoring the Eagles tour. Oy, I can't possibly hate the Knicks enough) and he is a ballhog who doesn't play defense.
So hey, basketball. I can't wait.
Also, guess who?
When he's not busy chucking up ill-advised jumpers, he's a total lost cause on the defensive end. His next successful rotation will be his first. With someone of his size, ambidexterity and athleticism, he could be a lockdown defender, but he doesn't seem to care enough to do the work.
SCB, of course. I hoped he'd be something for the Wolves, but he's pretty much a lost cause. The Heat signed him, but no guaranteed money. Dude will be out of the league soon, and I'm sure broke not much after that. He could have made 9 figures in this league.
Even I could figure out who that is and I've watched a total of 60 minutes of basketball over the last four seasons.
Every player on every team?!? Wake me when they get to the Greg Steamer episode.
Not Forbidden Zone per se, but work-related for a close personal friend of mine.
To be honest, I thought your b-o-f post was about veterinarians.
Maybe I hang out with children too much.
Had an interesting experience today...
Walked into a coffee shop behind a man (probably aged about 50) who was 3 young women (I put them at between 16 and 20). The man was quite well groomed, and all three of the girls were dressed, let's say, "suggestively". They all looked quite different from each other, so I figured they couldn't be sisters. This was during school hours, so it seemed odd that they weren't there. The girls all eyed the food in the display case as the man asked to speak to the manager, because he'd left some sort of letter for him a few days before. He seemed somewhat upset. When he was told he wasn't there, they all left, without anything being ordered. The girls seemed somewhat uncomfortable and none of them spoke while they were there.
It was a scene that did not sit well with me... very incongruous, and, frankly, it made me think there might be some human trafficking/prostitution stuff going on. It was nothing concrete, but I couldn't shake the hunch. So I made a police report. Even without much to go on, the officer still looked into it. He called me back a little while later...
Turns out it was the high school choir director and 3 students trying to solicit donations for a fundraiser. But apparently the folks at the coffee shop indicated that they could definitely understand why I developed my hunch. Still... it feels weird to have picked up on something like that, to have the hunch strongly enough that I felt the need to report it, and to learn that I reported completely innocent behavior as suspicious.
I think girls dress more suggestively than when we were in high school. Or maybe I'm getting old.
This was, I thought, more suggestive than the norm. I feel awful saying it, knowing that it was just a high school student, but one of them was pretty much dressed like a cliche movie prostitute. Tight, short leather skirt, skimpy animal print top, bright pink bra clearly visible. The others were better, but still suggestively dressed.
Welcome to parenthood, phyllo. How old is/are your kid(s)?
"dress code" is a highly contested concept out here. Whereas in my day the girls at Pacelli (across the street from Spamtown High) were daring in their rebelliousness by rolling the tops of their plaid skirts to show more than two inches of leg above the knee, many of today's public school girls really push the envelope. It is a weird culture.
My son is 4, my daughter turns 2 tomorrow.
I have a sister who just graduated high school and another in 8th grade, so I'm familiar with today's standards. I'm telling you, this was something... "special."
That seems very odd behavior for a choir director. In my experience, the members of the choir solicit donations, not the director. I would be suspicious of any male teacher off school grounds alone with three students, especially female students.
I didn't know it was a teacher at the time, obviously, but even in retrospect, yeah, it's weird.
not completely unlike a certain band director from our high school
Yeah.
Strange thing... I was in our hometown when this happened today.
Gladys Kravitz would be proud.
Sigh.
No comment really needed.
That's just too awesome.
Yes, that's fantabulous.
I find myself wondering if those nachos had any meat on them.
That's what she said?
I'll clap slowly for that one.
If they have awards for animated gifs, this one gets my vote.
They do. Ther'll be another vote this week.
There's buttslide to contend with.
how was nacho guy nonchalantly watching a foul ball instead of making sure the full girth of XXL VeeGeesus didn't plow him over?
From LEN3 on the Twins:
Several years ago, a certain rookie had to wear a dress on hazing day. He then spent most of the next season in the minors. He was called up for September and had to go through the hazing ritual again. I went up to him and said. ``Man, tough break you had to do this two straight years,'' He replied, ``that's O.K. La Velle. I do this for my wife all the time.'' And with that, I'll be on my way.....
So, any guesses on who this was? I don't have an answer.
I don't know, but I'm pretty sure I saw him walking around with a high school choir director today...
You're not the only one. I get to be excited three or four times a night even!
dude. some of us hope to get excited once a month.
#itscoming
the Legend of Billy Hamilton continues
this comment amused me:

Best thing I've seen in a Yankees hat in a long time
all the thumbs up.
And all the other digits, too.
Quit bragging. π
