Glendale: Brian Cavazos-Galvez (Dodgers) was 5-for-5 with two doubles, scoring twice and driving in one. Tucker Barnhart (Cincinnati) was 2-for-2 with two walks and scored once. Micah Johnson (White Sox) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a triple, scoring twice and driving in three.
The game: Glendale got single runs in the second, fourth, and fifth, two in the sixth, and put it away with six in the seventh.
PEORIA 6, SCOTTSDALE 3 IN PEORIA
Scottsdale: Mason Williams (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with a double and scored once. Tommy La Stella (Atlanta) was 1-for-3 with two walks and a double, scoring once and driving in two.
Peoria: Nolan Fontana (Houston) was 2-for-3 with a walk and two doubles, scoring once and driving in one. Delino DeShields (Houston) was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in one. Cory Spangenberg (San Diego) was 2-for-3 and scored twice.
The game: Peoria scored three in the first and led 4-1 after two. Scottsdale got two in the fourth to make it 4-3, but two singles, an error, and a Fontana double brought in two in the seventh to put it out of reach.
Random: While he didn't write "Classical Gas", Mason Williams is the grandson of Walt "No-Neck" Williams.
MESA 8, SALT RIVER 1 IN SALT RIVER
Mesa: Albert Almora (Cubs) was 2-for-5 with a triple, scoring twice and driving in three. Max Muncy (Oakland) was 2-for-3 with a walk and scored once. Taylor Lindsey (Angels) was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Salt River: James Ramsey (St. Louis) was 3-for-3 with a walk and a double and scored once. Aaron Sanchez (Toronto) pitched three shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks with one strikeout.
The game: Salt River led 1-0 after two. Mesa took the lead with two in the fourth when C. J. Cron (Angels) tripled in a run and scored on a sacrifice fly. It was 3-1 after eight when Mesa came up with a five-run ninth, highlighted by a three-run triple by Almora.
