Fall Festival: Games of 10/14

We start to catch up.  Lots of Twins had good games.

GLENDALE 5, PEORIA 1 IN GLENDALE

Twins:  Byron Buxton was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer.  Max Kepler was 2-for-4 and scored once.  Alex Meyer struck out three in two perfect innings.  A. J. Achter pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and no walks with one strikeout.  Trevor May pitched two innings, giving up one run on four hits and no walks with one strikeout.

Peoria:  Stefen Romero (Seattle) was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Glendale:  Micah Johnson (White Sox) was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.

The game:  Glendale got two in the second to take the lead.  Peoria scored its lone run in the fifth.  In the seventh, Buxton hit a two-run homer as part of a three-run inning that put the game out of reach.

SALT RIVER 3, SURPRISE 2 IN SURPRISE

Salt River:  Stephen Piscotty (St. Louis) was 4-for-4 with an RBI.  Kenny Wilson (Toronto) was 3-for-5 with an RBI.

Surprise:  Garin Cecchini (Boston) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double.  Taylor Jungmann (Milwaukee)struck out four in three shutout innings, allowing two hits and one walk.

The game:  Surprise led 2-0 after three.  Salt River got one in the fifth.  In the sixth, three singles tied the score and a wild pitch brought in the go-ahead run for Salt River.  Surprise got the tying run into scoring position in the sixth, seventh, and ninth.

MESA 7, SCOTTSDALE 6 IN SCOTTSDALE

Mesa:  Brian Goodwin (Washington) was 2-for-4 with two doubles and scored once.  Adrian Nieto (Washington) was 2-for-4 with a walk and scored once.  Tyler Collins (Detroit) was 2-for-5.

Scottsdale:  Tyler Austin (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.  Robbie Hefflinger (Atlanta) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Andrew Susac (San Francisco) was 2-for-3 with a walk and scored once.

The game:  Mesa led all the way, but it was always close.  It was 4-3 after three and 6-5 after five.  Mesa scored on a sacrifice fly in the sixth to make it 7-5.  In the eighth, Austin hit an RBI triple to make it 7-6, but that was as close as Scottsdale got.
