Oriente: Leandro Castro (Philadelphia) was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. Alex Valdez was 2-for-3 with a triple, scoring twice and driving in one. Omar Javier struck out five in five innings, giving up two runs on four hits and two walks.
Escogido: Jorge Polanco (Detroit) was 2-for-3 with two walks and two doubles, scoring twice and driving in two. Gregory Polanco (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-5 with a walk and two doubles, scoring twice and driving in one. Fernando Martinez (Yankees) was 2-for-4 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in three.
The game: Oriente led 3-1 after four. Escogido then struck for five in the fifth, all coming with two out. Martinez hit a three-run double in the inning. Escogido picked up three more in the sixth on a three-run homer by Bryce Brentz (Boston) and was never threatened.
