Not much to cheer for the Twins or for the entire Glendale team, for that matter. Eddie Rosario did okay.
SCOTTSDALE 5, GLENDALE 1 IN SCOTTSDALE
Twins: Eddie Rosario was 1-for-4 with a walk. Max Kepler was 0-for-4.
Glendale: Colin Moran (Miami) was 1-for-2 with two walks. Tucker Barnhart (Cincinnati) was 1-for-3 with a walk.
Scottsdale: Andrew Susac (San Francisco) was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer. Alex Dickerson (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-4. Aaron Northcraft (Atlanta) struck out four in three shutout innings, allowing two hits and two walks.
The game: Susac hit his two-run homer in the second to give Scottsdale a 3-0 lead. It was 4-0 through seven. The lone Glendale run came in the eighth.
PEORIA 5, SALT RIVER 3 IN PEORIA
Salt River: Bo Schultz (Arizona) struck out five in five innings, giving up one run on five hits and one walk.
Peoria: Delino DeShields (Houston) was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run. Jason Adam (Kansas City) struck out four in four innings, allowing one run on two hits and a walk.
The game: It was tied at three after six. In the seventh, Japhet Amador (Houston: 6'4", 305 pounds) hit a two-run homer to give Peoria a 5-3 lead.
MESA 9, SURPRISE 6 IN MESA
Surprise: Travis Shaw (Boston) was 2-for-5 with a double and scored twice. Jorge Alfaro (Texas) was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Garin Cecchini (Boston) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
Mesa: Devon Travis (Detroit) was 2-for-3 with a double, scoring once and driving in three. Addison Russell (Oakland) was 2-for-5 with a home run. Sammy Solis (Washington) pitched five innings, allowing one run on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts.
The game: Mesa took a 4-1 lead with a four-run second. David Freitas hit a three-run homer in the inning. Mesa built the lead to 9-1 after six. Surprise got two in the seventh and three in the eighth to make the final score look better, but did not get the tying run up to bat.
