Mexican League: Games of 10/24

Kevin Kouzmanoff is hitting .467.  Some really good pitching performances.

OBREGON 3, LOS MOCHIS 1 IN OBREGON

Los Mochis:  Tomas Solis struck out six in 6.1 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and one walk.

Obregon:  Barbaro Canizares was 3-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.  Rolando Valdez pitched seven innings, allowing one run on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

The game:  Los Mochis scored its run in the fifth and led 1-0 through seven.  In the seventh, a walk and a single put runners on the corners with one out and Dan Robertson (San Diego) singled in the tying run.  A walk loaded the bases, and Canizares delivered a two-out two-run single to give Obregon the lead.

HERMOSILLO 5, CULIACAN 1 IN CULIACAN

Hermosillo:  Jesse Gutierrez was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer.  Jerry Owens was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.  Barry Enright (Angels) pitched five innings, giving up one run on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

Culiacan:  Luis Cruz was 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI.  Andres Meza pitched seven innings, allowing two unearned runs on seven hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

The game:  Hermosillo took the lead with a run in the first.  The teams traded runs in the fifth to make it 2-1.  Gutierrez hit a two-run homer in the eighth to provide a couple of insurance runs for Hermosillo.

MEXICALI 7, GUASAVE 3 IN GUASAVE

Mexicali:  Kevin Kouzmanoff (Miami) was 4-for-5 with three doubles, scoring once and driving in one.  Cristhian Presichi was 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBIs.  Ricky Alvarez was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run.

Guasave:  Eduardo Arredondo was 3-for-4 with a walk.  Jesus Cota was 2-for-5 with a double and a two-run homer.  Mark Hamilton (Boston) was 2-for-4 with a walk and scored once.

The game:  Guasave scored three in the third to take a 3-0 lead, but Mexicali tied it with three in the fourth.  Kouzmanoff delivered a two-out RBI single in the fifth to give Mexicali a 5-4 lead.  In the seventh Presichi hit a two-run homer, and that pretty much decided the game.

MAZATLAN 5, NAVOJOA 0 IN NAVOJOA

Mazatlan:  Bryan Petersen (Miami) was 2-for-3 with a walk and two doubles, driving in two.  Oswaldo Morejon was 3-for-4 with a home run and scored twice.  Ryan Hinson (Atlanta) pitched seven shutout innings, giving up one hit and two walks with five strikeouts.

Navojoa:  Kraig Binick was 1-for-3 with a walk.

The game:  Mazatlan scored one in the third and took control with three in the fourth.  Henry Mateo had an RBI single and Petersen drove in two with a double.  Navojoa did not get a man past first base.
