The last of the winter leagues, the Puerto Rican League, gets underway tonight.
There are five teams in the Puerto Rican League, which of course means that at least one of them is not playing on any given day. Teams play a forty-game schedule, playing each other team in the league ten times. Last year, the top four teams made the playoffs and played a twelve-game round robin. The top two teams from that played a best-of-seven series to determine the champion.
