Singles night in Canberra opens the Australian League season.

CANBERRA 10, MELBOURNE 3 IN CANBERRA

Melbourne:  Justin Huber was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored once.  Darryl George (Tampa Bay) was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored once.

Canberra:  Casey Frawley was 4-for-5 with a run and an RBI.  Jeremy Barnes was 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs.  Brian Grening struck out eight in seven innings, allowing three unearned runs on five hits and one walk.

The game:  Melbourne scored tw0 in the second and still led 2-1 after four.  Canberra came back with four in the fifth and five in the sixth to take control.  Mike Crouse (Toronto) had a two-run single in the fifth and Barnes had a tw0-run single in the sixth.

Random:  Fourteen of the fifteen Melbourne hits were singles.
