Twins: Byron Buxton was 0-for-4 with a walk and scored once. Max Kepler was 1-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring once.
Surprise: Tyler Naquin (Cleveland) was 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs. Mitch Haniger (Milwaukee) was 2-for-4 with a double and a three-run homer (his third), scoring twice. Garin Cecchini (Boston) was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in two.
Glendale: Jared Mitchell (White Sox) was 3-for-5 with a double. Colin Moran (Miami) was 3-for-5 and scored twice. Yorman Rodriguez (Cincinnati) was 2-for-4 with two two-run homers.
The game: Surprise got two in the first, but Glendale scored one in the first and one in the fifth to tie the score. Rodriguez hit the first of his two-run homers in the sixth to give Glendale a 4-2 lead. Surprise came back with one in the seventh and then got five in the eighth to take the permanent lead. An error scored one run, a Cecchini double brought home another, and a three-run homer by Haniger finished the scoring in the inning. Rodriguez hit another two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to make it 8-6, but Naquin singled home an insurance run in the ninth. Glendale got the tying run up to bat with one out.
SCOTTSDALE 7, PEORIA 4 IN PEORIA (10 INNINGS)
Scottsdale: Addison Maruszak (Yankees) was 2-for-3 with two walks and a run. Cam Maron (Mets) was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Tommy La Stella (Atlanta) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.
Peoria: Cory Spangenberg (San Diego) was 3-for-5 with a double and a two-run homer, his second. Japhet Amador (Houston) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Chris Taylor (Seattle) was 2-for-4 with a walk.
The game: Scottsdale scored two in the first and one in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Spangenberg hit a two-run homer in the third to cut the lead to 3-2. An RBI double by Angel Villalona increased the Scottsdale lead to 4-2 in the seventh. Peoria got two on an RBI double by Amador and a sacrifice fly to tie the score. In the tenth, RBI singles by Maron and La Stella and a sacrifice fly gave Scottsdale the three-run lead.
MESA 5, SALT RIVER 4 IN MESA (8 INNINGS--RAIN)
Salt River: Kyle Parker (Colorado) was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Dean Kiekhefer (St. Louis) pitched two perfect innings.
Mesa: Brian Goodwin (Washington) was 2-for-4 with a home run (his second), driving in three.
The game: Salt River scored three in the second to take a 3-0 lead. Mesa came back with two in the third on a two-run Goodwin homer. Parker singled in a run in the top of the fifth, but Mesa took a 5-4 lead with three in the bottom of the fifth, the last two scoring on a two-run double by Jorge Soler. Salt River got the tying run to third with one out in the seventh.
