CAROLINA 6, PONCE 2 IN PONCE
Twins: Josue Montanez (Ponce) struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and no walks.
Carolina: Shuhei Fukuda was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in two. Jesus Feliciano was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Yuya Iida pitched six innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks with five strikeouts.
Ponce: Christian Colon (Kansas City) was 2-for-4 with a run. Adalberto Flores struck out three in 3.1 scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit and one walk.
The game: Carolina scored two in the second on three singles and two walks to go ahead 2-1. Feliciano hit an RBI double in the sixth to make it 3-1. In the ninth, Fukuda hit a two-run double, and eventually scored to make it 6-1. Ponce added one in the bottom of the ninth.
CAGUAS 6, SANTURCE 3 IN CAGUAS
Santurce: Edwin Maysonet was 3-for-4 with a double and a run. Billy Hamilton (Cincinnati) was 3-for-5 with a triple and a run.
Caguas: Ramon Castro was 2-for-3 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in four. Andy Gonzalez was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double, scoring twice.
The game: A two-run fourth by Caguas tied the game at three. A sacrifice fly put Caguas ahead 4-3 in the fifth. Castro hit a two-run double in the seventh to make it 6-3. Santurce did not get the tying run on base.
