OBREGON 8, HERMOSILLO 7 IN HERMOSILLO
Obregon: Carlos Valencia was 2-for-5 with a home run (his fourth), scoring twice and driving in three. Said Gutierrez was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second. Doug Clark was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.
Hermosillo: Jerry Owens was 3-for-6 with a triple, scoring once and driving in two. Carlos Gastelum was 2-for-3 with two walks, scoring once and driving in one. Heber Gomez was 2-for-5 with a double and a run.
The game: Each team scored three in the first. Obregon got single runs in the fourth and fifth to go up 5-3, but Hermosillo had a four-run fifth, highlighted by a two-run triple by Owens, to go ahead 7-5. Obregon got one back in the sixth. In the seventh, three consecutive one-out singles tied the score and a sacrifice fly by Clark brought the go-ahead run home. Hermosillo got runners to second and third with two out in the seventh but could not tie the score.
NAVOJOA 4, LOS MOCHIS 0 IN NAVOJOA
Los Mochis: Fredy Quintero pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits and one walk with one strikeout.
Navojoa: Diego Madero was 2-for-4 with a double. Rolando Acosta was 1-for-2 with two walks and a three-run homer, his third. Salvador Robles pitched six innings, allowing three hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
The game: Navojoa scored all four runs in the third. Acosta hit a three-run homer with one out. A single and a single-and-error produced the fourth run. The closest Los Mochis came to scoring was in the third inning, when they got a pair of two out singles.
MEXICALI 6, MAZATLAN 2 IN MEXICALI
Mazatlan: Bryan Petersen was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Miguel Ruiz pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
Mexicali: Chris Roberson was 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs. Ricky Alvarez was 2-for-4 with a double. Terry Doyle pitched seven innings, allowing one run on three hits and no walks with one strikeout.
The game: An RBI single by Russell Branyan gave Mexicali a 1-0 lead in the first and they never gave up that lead. Mexicali took control in the third by scoring three times, two of them coming on an error. A two-run homer by Oscar Robles in the sixth made it 6-0. Mazatlan scored single runs in the seventh and eighth and got the tying run up to bat with one out in the ninth.
