Dominican Digest: Games of 11/20

A big day for Jorge Polanco.  Everything happened early in Licey.  The Laddie comes through again for Cibao.

ESCOGIDO 8, AGUILAS 3 IN AGUILAS

Twins:  Jorge Polanco (Escogido) was 3-for-4 with a run.  Deibinson Romero (Escogido) was used as a pinch-hitter and was 0-for-1.  Danny Santana (Aguilas) was 0-for-5.

Escogido:  Wilkin Castillo was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.  Erik Gonzalez (Cleveland) was 2-f0r-4, scoring once and driving in two.  Sean Nolin (Toronto) pitched 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on six hits and one walk with four strikeouts.

Aguilas:  Juan Lagares (Mets) was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and scored twice.  Jermaine Curtis (St. Louis) was 2-for-4 with a run.  Kelvin Villa struck out three in three shutout innings, allowing one hit and now walks.

The game:  The Lagares homer came in the first inning and gave Aguilas a 2-0 lead.  It held up until the fifth, when Escogido scored four times on three singles, a double, and an error.  In the sixth, a double, a hit batsman, and three singles plated three more and gave Escogido control of the game.

ORIENTE 4, LICEY 2 IN LICEY

Oriente:  Audy Ciriaco was 2-for-4 with a double and a triple, scoring once and driving in one.  Alberto Castillo struck out three in three innings, giving up one run on three hits and one walk.

Licey:  Carlos Triunfel (Seattle) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Yamaico Navarro was 1-for-2 with two walks and a home run, his sixth.  Chris Marrero was 2-for-4.

The game:  Navarro homered in the first to give Licey its only lead of the game.  Oriente scored all four runs in the fourth, with Junior Lake (Cubs) hitting a two-run double.  Licey got one back in the bottom of the fourth and had the tying run on base in the fourth and the sixth.

CIBAO 5, ESTE 3 IN ESTE

Cibao:  Alexi Casilla was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.  Hanser Alberto (Texas) was 2-for-3 with a run.

Este:  Joey Terdoslavich was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple, scoring once and driving in two.  Gonzalez Germen (Mets) struck out three in two shutout innings, allowing two hits and no walks.

The game:  Francisco Peguero (San Francisco) hit a two-run homer in the second to give Cibao a 2-0 lead.  Casilla and Marcell Ozuna (Miami) homered in the third to make it 4-0.  Terdoslavich hit a two-run triple in the fourth and Este got another run in the sixth to make it 4-3.  Casilla singled in an insurance run for Cibao in the seventh.  Este did not get the tying run on base after that.
