LA GUAIRA 10, MAGALLANES 8 IN LA GUAIRA (11 INNINGS)
Twins: Yorman Landa (La Guaira) pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up one run on one hit and no walks with one strikeout.
Magallanes: Ezequiel Carrera was 4-for-5 with a walk and a home run (his fourth), scoring twice. Robinson Chirinos (Texas) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in two. Adonis Garcia (Yankees) was 2-for-6 with a double and two runs.
La Guaira: C. J. Retherford was 3-for-5 with a walk, a double, and a two-run homer (his eighth), scoring three times. Rene Reyes was 2-for-2 with two walks and a double, scoring once and driving in two. Salvador Perez (White Sox) was 2-for-6 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.
The game: Magallanes scored three in the sixth to take a 5-3 lead. In the eighth, a pinch-hit two-run double by Andy Wilkins (White Sox) capped a five-run inning and gave La Guaira an 8-5 advantage. In the ninth, Chirinos had a two-run single to finish off a three-run rally and tie the score. With two out in the eleventh, a single and a two-run homer by Retherford ended the game.
MARGARITA 3, ANZOATEGUI 1 IN ANZOATEGUI
Twins: Eduardo Escobar (Anzoategui) was 0-for-3 with a walk.
Margarita: Manny Pina was 2-for-2 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Carlos Rivero was 1-for-2 with two walks and a home run, his eighth. Carlos Monasterios pitched five innings, giving up an unearned run on two hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
Anzoategui: Jose Gil (Yankees) was 2-for-3 with a walk. Niuman Romero was 1-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once.
The game: Anzoategui scored its lone run in the first. Margarita tied it in the second on Pina's RBI single and took the lead in the third on the Rivero homer. A sacrifice fly brought home an insurance run in the fifth. Anzoategui had two on in the sixth but did not get a man past first after that.
CARACAS 8, ARAGUA 2 IN ARAGUA
Twins: Oswaldo Arcia (Aragua) was 0-for-4. Dakota Watts (Aragua) pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and no walks.
Caracas: J. D. Martinez (Houston) was 3-for-5 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in two. Alex Gonzalez was 3-for-5, scoring twice and driving in one. Guillermo Moscoso (San Francisco) struck out six in five innings, giving up one run on two hits and one walk.
Aragua: Luis Maza was 2-for-4. Wilson Ramos (Washington) was 2-for-4.
The game: A two-run double by Martinez in the first inning led to a 3-0 Caracas lead. Aragua never got closer.
LARA 7, ZULIA 2 IN LARA
Zulia: Juan Apodaca (Texas) was 2-for-4. Marwin Gonzalez (Houston) was 1-for-2 with a walk and a run. Elvis Araujo (Cleveland) pitched three innings, giving up one run on two hits and one walk.
Lara: Joc Pederson was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Luis Valbuena was 2-for-3 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in one. Raul Rivero pitched 5.2 innings, allowing two unearned runs on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts.
The game: Zulia led 2-1 after two, but Lara scored six in the third to take control. The first seven batters reached base. The first two walked, the next three singled, then came a two-run double by Andrew Lambo (Pittsburgh), followed by a two-run single by Pederson.
