GUASAVE 6, CULIACAN 5 IN GUASAVE (14 INNINGS)

Culiacan:  Carlos Alvarez was 2-for-3 with a walk and a home run, scoring twice.  Ronnier Mustelier (Yankees) was 2-for-5 with a two-run homer, his second.  Matt Bischoff (Baltimore) pitched 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and one walk with two strikeouts.

Guasave:  Mark Hamilton was 2-for-5 with two walks and a double, scoring once.  Leonardo Heras was 2-for-6 with a walk and a double, driving in one.  Jeff Bennett pitched six innings, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

The game:  Jesus Lopez had a two-run double as part of a four-run fifth that put Guasave in the lead 4-1.  Karim Garcia hit a two-run single in the seventh to cut the lead to 4-3 and Mustelier's two-run homer in the eighth gave Culiacan a 5-4 advantage.  A single, a walk, a hit batsman, and a ground out tied the score in the bottom of the ninth.  In the fourteenth, two one-out singles, an intentional walk, and a single by Japhet Amador (Houston) produced the winning run.

MEXICALI 3, MAZATLAN 0 IN MEXICALI

Mazatlan:  Alberto Carreon was 2-for-3 with a walk and a run.  Jeremy Acey was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Blake Gailen was 1-for-2 with two walks.

Mexicali:  Ricky Alvarez was 2-for-3 with a two-run homer, his seventh.  Brad Snyder was 1-for-1 with three walks and a run.  Terry Doyle pitched six innings, allowing six hits and five walks with three strikeouts.

The game:  Alvarez hit his two-run homer in the second.  Russell Branyan had an RBI single in the seventh.  Mazatlan's biggest scoring threat came in the second, when Oswaldo Morejon was thrown out trying to score from second on a single.

HERMOSILLO 6, NAVOJOA 1 IN HERMOSILLO

Navojoa:  John Lindsey was 2-for-4.  Jose Chavez was 1-for-3 with a run.

Hermosillo:  Yunesky Sanchez was 2-for-4 with a home run (his seventh), scoring twice and driving in three.  Stefan Gartrell was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring once and driving in one.  Nathan Reed struck out six in 4.1 innings, allowing one run on five hits and one walk.

The game:  Rolando Acosta had an RBI single to give Navojoa a 1-0 first inning lead.  In the third, Sanchez singled in the tying run, a sacrifice fly put Hermosillo ahead, and Gartrell doubled in a run to make it 3-1.  Jonathan Aceves singled in an insurance run in the sixth and Sanchez hit a two-run homer in the seventh to put it out of reach.

LOS MOCHIS 8, OBREGON 3 IN LOS MOCHIS

Obregon:  Sergio Contreras was 2-for-4.  Dan Robertson (San Diego) was 1-for-5 with a double and a run.

Los Mochis:  Brian Burgamy was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.  Rodolfo Amador was 1-for-4 with a two-run homer, his third.  Andres Avila (Oakland) pitched two shutout innings, allowing no hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

The game:  Obregon got one in the third and two in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead.  Los Mochis came back to score five in the sixth on a hit batsman, four consecutive singles, an error, and another single.  Los Mochis put the game away in the eighth on an Emmanuel Avila RBI triple and Amador's two-run homer.
