CAROLINA 3, SANTURCE 2 IN SANTURCE
Twins: Jon Velasquez (Santurce) pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit and no walks with one strikeout.
Carolina: Enrique Hernandez (Houston) was 2-for-5 with a double. Juan Centeno (Mets) was 2-for-2 with an RBI. Willie Collazo pitched six shutout innings of relief, giving up three hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
Santurce: Jonathan Rodriguez (St. Louis) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run. Austin Wates (Houston) was 0-for-1 with three walks and an RBI. Victor Mateo (Tampa Bay) pitched five innings, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk with four strikeouts.
The game: Centeno's RBI single put Carolina on the board in the top of the second, but a pair of bases-loaded walks gave Santurce a 2-1 lead through two. It remained 2-1 until the ninth, when five singles produced two runs and gave Carolina the lead. Carlos Corporan (Houston) singled in the tying run and Jesus Feliciano singled in the go-ahead run. Santurce got the tying run to third with one out and the winning run to second with two out, but could not score.
CAGUAS 2, PONCE 1 IN PONCE
Caguas: Luis Mateo (St. Louis) was 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs. Andy Gonzalez was 1-for-4 with a double. Luis Cruz (Houston) pitched five innings, giving up an unearned run on one hit and one walk with three strikeouts.
Ponce: Logan Williamson struck out six in 5.2 innings, allowing one run on seven hits and no walks.
The game: Ponce scored once in the third on an error. Mateo's RBI single in the fifth tied the score, and Mateo's RBI triple in the ninth brought home the go-ahead run. Ponce went down in order in the ninth.
Note that during the season the minor league team images will match the team. For now, it'll be a grab bag.
