Twins: Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 1-for-4. Eddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 1-for-4. Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 1-for-3.
Mayaguez: Martin Maldonado (Milwaukee) was 2-for-3 with a walk. Jonathan Albaladejo pitched six innings, giving up one run on five hits and one walk with three strikeouts.
Ponce: Jonathan Mota (Cubs) was 1-for-3 with a double and a run. Benji Gonzalez (Pittsburgh) was 1-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Logan Williamson struck out six in six innings, allowing one run on six hits and three walks.
The game: Gonzalez had an RBI triple in the third to give Ponce a 1-0 lead. Mayaguez tied it in the fourth on a sacrifice fly. It stayed 1-1 until the eighth, when Jordan Lennerton (Detroit) hit a two-out two-run single to go ahead 3-1. Mayaguez went out in order in the ninth.
CAROLINA 3, SANTURCE 1 IN CAROLINA
Santurce: Jonathan Singleton (Houston) was 1-for-4 with a home run, his ninth. Victor Mateo (Tampa Bay) pitched five innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits and no walks with two strikeouts.
Carolina: Enrique Hernandez (Houston) was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Juan Centeno (Mets) was 1-for-3 with a double and a run. Nao Higashihama struck out six in six shutout innings, allowing three hits and one walk.
The game: It was scoreless until the fifth, when Carolina scored on an error. Anthony Garcia (St. Louis) had an RBI single in the sixth to make it 2-0 and Hernandez doubled in a run in the seventh to make it 3-0. Santurce's lone run came in the ninth when Singleton hit a solo homer, but the tying run did not come up to bat.
