Day three of the playoffs.  A see-saw game in Escogido.  Squandered chances in Cibao.

AGUILAS 7, ESCOGIDO 5 IN ESCOGIDO

Twins:  Jorge Polanco (Escogido) was 0-for-4.  Pedro Florimon (Escogido) was 1-for-3.

Aguilas:  Francisco Pena (Kansas City) was 3-for-5 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in two.  Rafael Ynoa (Colorado) was 1-for-3 with two walks, scoring once and driving in two.  Joey Terdoslavich (Atlanta) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a run.

Escogido:  Carlos Santana was 1-for-3 with a walk and a home run, scoring twice and driving in two.  Alfredo Marte was 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs.  Roberto Novoa pitched two shutout innings, allowing one hit and no walks with one strikeout.

The game:  Pena doubled in two in the top of the second to give Aguilas a 2-0 lead.  Escogido came back with a homer by Santana in the bottom of the second and scored four times in the third to take a 5-2 lead.  One of the runs scored on a bases-loaded walk; the other three came in on a three-run triple by Marte.  Aguilas scored once in the fourth and then got two in the sixth on RBI singles by Ynoa and Ricardo Nanita to tie the score at five.  Zoilo Almonte (Yankees) delivered a two-run double in the eighth to give Aguilas a 7-5 advantage.  Escogido did not get a man on base after the fifth.

LICEY 2, CIBAO 0 IN CIBAO

Twins:  Dan Rohlfing (Licey) was 1-for-3.

Licey:  Anderson Hernandez was 3-for-4 with two home runs.  Eugenio Velez (Milwaukee) was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Esmil Rogers (Toronto) pitched 5.1 scoreless innings, giving up five hits and two walks with three strikeouts.

Cibao:  Marcell Ozuna was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Juan Silverio was 1-for-3 with a walk.  Joey Williamson pitched two shutout innings, allowing two hits and no walks with one strikeout.

The game:  Hernandez hit a two-out homer in the second and a leadoff homer in the fifth for the only runs of the game.  Cibao had seven hits and drew four walks but went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position and hit into three double plays.
