ESCOGIDO 9, AGUILAS 2 IN ESCOGIDO
Twins: Pedro Florimon (Escogido) was 2-for-4 with a double and a run.
Aguilas: Alex Valdez was 1-for-4 with a triple and a run. Hector Luna was 1-for-4 with an RBI. David Reyes pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout.
Escogido: Eury Perez (Washington) was 2-for-5 with a run and two RBIs. Starling Marte (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Raul Valdes (Houston) pitched five shutout innings, allowing five hits and no walks with four strikeouts.
The game: Marte's RBI single, a bases-loaded walk, and a sacrifice fly put Escogido ahead 3-0 in the first. Escogido broke it open in the third with five runs. They got RBI singles from Wilkin Castillo and Julio Lugo, a run scored on an error, and Perez singled in two more with a single. It was 9-0 before Aguilas scored in the sixth.
CIBAO 3, LICEY 0 IN CIBAO
Licey: Emilio Bonifacio (Kansas City) was 1-for-4 with a triple. Jamie Romak (Dodgers) was 1-for-3 with a double. Mitch Atkins (Atlanta) struck out six in 6.1 innings, giving up two runs on four hits and no walks.
Cibao: Leury Garcia (White Sox) was 1-for-4 with a home run and two runs. Alexi Casilla was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Evan MacLane pitched seven innings, allowing four hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
The game: Marcell Ozuna doubled in a run in the fourth, Garcia homered in the sixth, and Casilla singled in a run in the eighth to give Cibao a 3-0 victory. The only time Licey got a man to third base was when Bonifacio tripled with two out in the third inning.
