I honestly thought this whole "reunion" thing was a big mistake. Trying to recapture that youthful magic seemed like a bad idea, even if it was for charity. Man, I'm glad they didn't ask for my opinion.

22 years after hanging it up following a show in Chicago, they walked out onto a stage in Canada and did this.

  1. Nice pick, Bootsy. Words can't describe what is was like seeing that in concert. It was loud -- not in "damn-my-ears-hurt" loud, but more, "this is shaking me to the core of my being loud."

    1. My friend Rip (who has seen more shows than anyone I know) was also at the Chicago gig. He said it was hands down the best rock and roll sound he's ever heard at a festival. Goosebumps, he said. (Tommy prolly knows some real pros with his GnR connections.) I'm sorry, I missed these gigs, but thank goodness for YouTube. I bet I've watched a couple hours worth of clips from the three Riot Fest shows.

      The summer of '91 was when the locals went on their franchise record winning streak. PW is a Twins fan.

  3. FWIW, when everyone first started speculating who would be the replacement Replacements, I said PW should just go get his old touring band because those cats were a dynamite combo. What do you know--they did.

    My first ever video as a WGOM DJ was this. Hired guns Josh Friese on drums and Dave Minehan on guitar. Sub out Tommy for the bassist and you're in business.
