I will be leaving town after worship services today to spend roughly twenty-four hours with the parental units, so there will be no winter baseball reports tomorrow. If all goes according to plan, such reports will be back on Tuesday.
have a Super trip, Padre.
Ireland's Six Nations match is starting.
your boyos didn't embarrass themselves, but they'll certainly have to up the tempo to hang with wales.
Yeah, a win is a win, but it wasn't convincing.
Ack. That'll teach me to clean the house - or, for that matter, do anything at all - before checking the WGOM when the cock crows.
I'm having a hard time with Super Bowl prognostication this year. Two pretty evenly matched teams with identical records. My heart says Denver, because I know a ton of Broncos fans, including many family members, and it would be nice for them. But my head says Seattle, because defense still wins championships.
Football's not exactly my thing anymore, but I'll admit this game has piqued my interest.
I'll throw a prediction thing together here, if anyone cares.
I am rooting for Seattle because I have had a long dislike for the Denver Broncos. I also had a lot of friends in the Seattle area .
Plus the thought of T Jack having a Super Bowl ring makes me giggle.
See, that's the thing. I don't have any personal rooting interest but since I know so many Broncos fans I'll pick them to cheer for. But the race always seems more interesting when you've picked a favorite and invested at least something into the outcome.
Alright: if you want to play, email me or Spoiler it, and I'll put together a spreadsheet. After the game, I'll mark correct, incorrect and "close enough" answers, and come up with a fair and balanced scoring system that benefits me personally.

"Give It Away"= points for dw. DK, you x should have gone with your gut.
I had it down but figured they'd close with it. If I'd known they were only playing one song, I would have gotten it right.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman dead of a suspected heroin overdose. Ugh. As half of my friends are actors, I'm sure Facebook is the most depressing place in the world right now. It often is, but...you know.
Whoa. Didn't see that coming.
man. shit. boo. argh.
Ah crap.
Damn. My friend Jill will be devastated. She worked with him on the little indie Love, Liza and remained good friends with him afterwards. They would hook up for dinner or drinks when they were both out in New York. In fact, "Phil" as she called him, was supposed to meet up with with us when I was out there a few years ago, but he ended up cancelling at the last minute.
I need to call her.
His Canadian banker role was my favorite. And gwosgwot Lebowski is #2.
He was so good in everything. From the sad little assistant in Boogie Nights, to the smarmy rich kid in The Talented Mr Ripley, to Art Howe in Moneyball. He was one of the finest actors working.
don't discount his turn as the palliative care nurse in Magnolia.
All forgiven on Twister.
He was adored among actors. I saw him in Sam Shepard's True West on Broadway (opposite John C. Reilly) in 2000. He was equally adept on stage (I know this sounds obvious, but it's far from universal) and I'm glad I took the chance when everyone else on the trip was convinced they had to see f*&^ing Cats before it closed a few months later, which is kind of like saying you need to eat a cowpie before it festers in the sun for too long.

Epic meat vs. spoons showdown in the Cribbage Tournamenf; many excellent hands were seen. meat wins the third match 121-117 to advance.
Ooo, I get to dominate some meat now
ONLY I CAN BEAT MY MEAT!
I went out to eat for breakfast and the waitress asked if I was excited about the big game tonight.
I was not prepared for the attention our little tournament has received.
I fell asleep reading to my kids. DG vs AMR will have to wait for tonight.

You guys are just ducking me. I'm the Peyton Manning of cribbage! Unstoppable!
The last two weeks have seen numerous cable channels show Groundhog Day, on the the day its no where to be found.
Wow. That was refreshing to see someone who didn't come from American Idol in that spot.
for the record, I picked Julius Thomas, not Demaryius Thomas, for MVP and most receiving yards. Broncos have two receivers named Thomas. It was Demaryius with all the catches.
Relaxing at our B&B just 10 min from the Kilauea caldera. The volcano is an awesome sight; yesterday we watched the cloud and steam rising from below the rim, and then went back out ~11:30PM and watched the glowing orange cloud, standing by ourselves at the observation museum.
Holy god is that the S'Hawks? I think the knees were down.
not quite beatemdown territory, but a nice half for the Seahawks.
Please tell me Bruno missed his plane, but Prince happened to be there.
No such luck. You'll have to catch Prince on "New Girl."
I might watch that, even though I gave up on New Girl about 3/4s way through season 1. Tried watching it here and there and always end up turning the channel.
Brooklyn99 is a show I need to watch more, but the Wolves seems to be always playing at that time.
New Girl is terrible. The writing is awful and most of the peanut gallery can't act. Zooey isn't my favorite or anything, but she deserves better.
I guess the mrs and I must be part of the great unwashed, because we enjoy the show (her more than me, but I think it has its moments)
Eh, every show has its moments. This one just...has so few.
My expectations probably didn't help. It's a nice-looking, single-camera show with an actress I've dug in the past, so I wanted really badly to like it.
Eh, every show has its moments.
Two Broke Girls is sure trying to prove you wrong. Seriously, I bet the read-throughs are better acted.
It was much funnier when it was called Laverne and Shirley.
You've got me there, Runner. I've never seen an episode, but I've seen a lot of commercials, and if commercials show the best stuff...
You aren't the only ones.
"New Girl" isn't bad, but "Brooklyn Nine-nine" is actually really good (at least as far as my opinion is concerned).
I looked around and I see very good reviews across the board, so I think I'll stick around for it.
same here. i think it's created by the parks and recs guys, right?
I haven't looked at that, but a few minutes in, I can see that.
yep
opening credits confirm.
also, i've only seen him in a few small things, but i like that andy samburg kid. in addition, i recently heard him gush over his wife on maron's podcast, so i can respect that he knows what he has, even if i'm ridiculously jealous.
Aye, Michael Schur, of P& R and Fire Joe Morgan fame.

Super Bowl halftime shows have really changed.

Oops forgot to spoil and edit doesn't let you add spoilers post-LTE-post.
And:
You can, you just have to type the code in manually.

Who had it starting with a safety?
Didnt see that coming.

PS - And as Mose on "The Office"
Ok, stuck through the entire New Girl episode.
Brooklyn Nine Nine
I want it known that I predicted the length of the break between halves to the exact second. I'm more excited about that than I am the Harvin return.
Flea wins the Super Bowl
What's the matter McFly? Chicken?
you made me literally LOL
We're approaching Vikings NFC Championship Game territory here.
I am cheering for a shutout.
Prediction Winner: Jon Bois.
I was thinking that same thing.
What did he predict? The 366-0 on Madden?
He finished at 266-0.
255-0
Oops, I meant 262-0. Madden said 255 or 266, but he had actually scored 262.
T-JACK SIGHTING!!!!11
hahaha
The thought of T-Jack actually playing in a Super Bowl reduces me to a giggling mess.
