My favorite local band right now, Emot, is having a record release show at the Cedar next Thursday night (3/6). Opening are my second-favorite local band — We Are the Willows — and the Cairo Gang, who have collaborated with Bonnie Prince Billy. I'm really excited about this show. You should go. It's $12 at the door ($10 presale), Doors at 7, Music at 7:30.
Emot Music Video and more after the break.

I was combing through my "To Listen" folder to see if there was anything I had forgotten to check out and I found Dawn of Midi - Dysnomia in there. I really like this stuff, I've pretty much listened to nothing else all week. Like nibbish said, It's kind of like what would happen if The Field transferred his sound to a jazz trio and played everything live/acoustic.

Not sure if AMR mentioned this before (I feel like he did) but a mini-album of NIN/Coil remixes just came out this week. Recoiled. Haven't listened yet, but I probably will at some point.
I did not mention that Coil/NIN remixes disc. Given my love of Coil's remixes of NIN, I need to check that out. Thanks for the tip!
This article about Reznor/Christopherson and their relationship was where I was made aware of it.
Well see I just got there from your first link.
I haven't read it yet. Going to the in-laws this weekend, so I have it prepped to read (paper) when everyone's on their iPad.

*Notes:
2. I love the last part of this song, when the sisters sing over each other:
"For the first time in forever/Oh I'm such a fool, I can't be free
You don't have to be afraid/No escape from the storm inside of me
We can work this out together/I can't control the curse
We can reverse this storm you made/O Anna, you'll only make it worse
...
/I CAN'T!!!"
5. It's bothered me for a long time that this album and its song titles have "C"s in them. I always thought it should be Konsumed and "Konverge", to fit with the rest of his diskography to that point: Musik, "Krakpot", "Spastik", "Ethnik", "Konception", "Smak"
T. Performed by Theatre of Voices under the direction of Paul Hillier. This song is one of the "Seven Magnificent Antiphons".

If I overlooked "Dancing in the Dark," I would say this is a rad list DW.

Maybe it's just because I go through distinct phases in my listening habits, but I've had a hard time warming up to Lydia Loveless. I do, however, really love her Kirsty MacColl cover--a song that Tracy Ullman took to the Top of the Pops.
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwfadD31UH8
I only know her because of AMR but I like what I've heard. I had not heard this one, but your "really love" sentiment is completely on-point.
Last track on the new album.
Gleeman's now pushing her, too.
I should probably buy my ticket to that April 24th show at 7th Street soon.
Let me know when you do and I'll get one too.
Speaking of shows and considering I had two Iced Earth songs in my list today, I don't think I'll be able to make it up for that show in April. I've got too much work travel in the near future to be able to sell this one.
Figured as much. No worries!
btw, you'll have a package arriving next week...be honest in your assessment. It was my first 5 gal extract kit so I have a lot to learn.
Will do. Reminds me I need to get a batch going on of these days. Its been too cold out for even me to brew, though. That also reminds me that I thought there was supposed to be a beer review post going up.....
If your next one turns out anything like that black did, sign me up for a delivery.
I'll be going for an american rye ale. Probably lots of hops. Downside for deliveries is that it'll be kegged, but maybe I'll try to remember to bottle a couple up and send them out.
Maybe I'll finally have to deliver myself to Madison to get it from the keg...so much going on all. the. time.
I hear that. If you ever do find the time, I'll make sure to get a brew day scheduled.

I’m headed to First Ave tonight for the Broken Bells show. Anyone else attending?
*My absolute favorite version of this song and easily in my Top-20.
**His new album, Morning Phase, dropped on Tuesday.
I’m headed to First Ave tonight for the Broken Bells show. Anyone else attending?
Nope, but I will be at The Sonics and Charlie Pickett First Avenue show on Saturday. All are welcome, should be a hoot!
I love this song, and only recently found out there are words to it. Charlie Haden & KC's own Pat Metheny:
httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHLY5VHQEek
Speaking of KC, I was thinking -- what about trying to coordinate some of the daily videos with the Twins' road schedule and play musicians from the particular town/area that the Twins are playing at? I know we've done some coordinated posts (the Uni watch comes to mind) with the Twins' schedule.
No list today, but I wanted to say that I have been absolutely loving the J. Roddy Walston & The Business that I've heard on The Current recently. At least 3 excellent songs.
I need to pick up their latest album. I loved their self titled 2010 release.
Why does Pharrell make really catchy songs that end up playing in an endless loop in your head all day?
Wait, that's Pharrell? I thought everyone was just talking about this guy.
