  1. Fun with numbers: Brian Dozier edition!
    Dozier has a slash line of : .182 /.315 /.477/.792
He has as many walks (8) as hits (8)
Of his 8 hits, 5 are for extra bases.
13 times Dozier has reached based via non-HR, he has scored 8 times.

    1. I like that half of Dozier's hits are homeruns. His BABIP is at .143, so there should be some more hits falling in for him and wrecking that ratio pretty soon.

  2. Wild Playoff Watch: Last Day of the Season

Anaheim won yesterday to clinch the top spot in the West. So the Wild will play either St. Louis or Colorado depending on results today.

    Minnesota - Nashville -- 7 PM Central
No playoff implications here. Just a chance at 100 points for Minnesota.

St. Louis - Detroit -- 11:30 Central on NBC.
If St. Louis loses in regulation, the Wild play Colorado
If St. Louis gets any points, then it comes down to the Avalanche/Ducks game later tonight

    Colorado - Anaheim -- 7 PM Central
Colorado has to match the number of points the Blues get to win the division.

    1. All the playoff series are set (with one minor exception in the East).

      WESTERN CONFERENCE
      Central
      2. Colorado v. 7. Minnesota
      C2. St. Louis v. C3. Chicago

      Pacific
      1. Anaheim v. 8. Dallas
      P2. San Jose v. P3. Los Angeles

      EASTERN CONFERENCE
      Atlantic
      1. Boston v. 8. Detroit
A2/A3. Tampa Bay v. Montreal (If TB wins today they are the A2, otherwise its MON)

      Metropolitan
      2. Pittsburgh v. 7. Columbus
      M2. New York Rangers v. M3. Philadelphia

  3. My ultra secret strategy for the Frozen Four bracket: I used random.org for every single pick. That explains why I picked Providence to beat Quinnipac, and Robert Morris to beat Minnesota. It also explains why I won my first ever bracket at the WGOM!

    1. That's pretty amazing. The College Hockey playoffs can be weird, Yale won it all last year and I think they were a 14 or 15 seed. But Union was definitely the best team, when they got going holy cow it was like a hornet's nest of activity.

  4. I think I may have actually slept enough last night. It feels weird and I don't know what to do with myself. It's to the point where being healthy and well-rested makes me think subconsciously that something is wrong.

  5. Derek Wetmore ‏@DerekWetmore
Willingham had another MRI and CT scan, the CT scan showed a small fracture of a bone in his wrist. Rob Antony says he hopes it's 15 days.

    ..

Antony said it's a very uncommon injury for a baseball player. They'll consult with a hand specialist.

    Bilateral hand weakness?

    1. I don't mean to be piling on, but shouldn't it have occurred to someone to consult with a specialist before now?

        1. why the hell don't they get a sponsorship deal with Mayo that includes medical services?

      1. What difference would it have made other than putting him on the DL a day or two earlier. I don't think it would have been treated differently.

        1. It's possible that it would have made no difference at all, although I don't know that either you or I are in a position to know that. It's also possible that every other team would've handled this in the same way the Twins did; I'm in no position to know that, either. It just seems to me that if I had millions and millions of dollars invested, both directly and indirectly, in the health of a group of people, I would consult with specialists pretty regularly any time the health of a member of that group became an issue.

  6. Figured I might as well brew a cup here too.

There's no need to make excuses. We all know that you really just posted to try to improve your numbers on the contributors page. (Fun addition, sean!)

  7. @PhilMackey If natural selection worked, that person wouldn't exist to take that selfie.

Souhan doesn't believe in natural selection. That explains a lot.

  8. I think I can now be convinced that Gorgui starting and then Pek coming off the bench to destroy the opponents second line is a viable option for the Wolves next year.
But if Gorgui starts, Kevin Love's rebounding numbers are going to take a huge hit.

    1. wattsy, I can go either way here. The exciting thing is that Gorgui can play and must have minutes. The thing that is really surprising is how much Dieng can do on the offensive end. He can protect the rim, which Love cannot do, but he can also score. Pek is terrific, but he's injury prone. Limiting his minutes and splitting them with Gorgui would be a terrific outcome regardless of who starts.

      1. Exactly. I sort of like the problem of having two starting caliber centers. Neither strike me as the type to get upset over reduced minutes. (Or extended, in Dieng's case)

    1. I haven't read through the whole thing yet, but I know I'm in for a treat when the first and second paragraphs immediately contradict each other:

College athletes don't need to be paid, plain and simple.

The problem with Peterson weighing in on this topic is that once again the entire issue is being oversimplified.

      Fantastic, Mr. Chadiha.

      1. I was thinking about reading it, but the two lines you quoted convinced me that I really didn't need to.
