I should have set this up before I went to the Lydia Loveless concert. Please use the space below to share ten random tracks or talk about music some.

Yep, that was me who got Lydia Loveless to end her show with a Guided By Voices song (Drinker's Peace).
That cracked me up. I didn't recognize it as a GBV song until you told me.
That show was phenomenal! Thanks to AMR and free for promoting Ms. Loveless - I could have listened all night!
free - I still wouldn't recognize it as a GBV song.
It was the last song with just LL on guitar and she couldn't remember all the words.
That was by far the most rockingest LL show I've seen. Which makes sense since she had two additional guitar/slide guitar players.
She must have been saving it for me
I thought her Triple Rock show (the one you missed) was better. I think it was this same band. Maybe not the same drummer. Definitely the same guitarist (Todd May).
Her encore last night got a bit sloppy, but maybe it was just that I didn't recognize the covers.
That, or the Surly Hell she was imbibing?
I don't know if you could tell back where you were but the band was passing around a bottle of Jim Beam too.
That's why America is better than Finland (or whatever Scandinavian country)!
Sweden
That was obvious.
I still wouldn't recognize it as a GBV song.
I think the only one I would recognize is "Tractor Rape Chain".

If I had to guess one guy who had an obscure Michael Nesmith album from the early 1990's it would've been Rowsdower.
isn't "obscure Michael Nesmith album" redundant?
I don't know if anyone else is a Songza user, but I really enjoy discovering its hidden gem playlists. This week I've had "Hippies, Hillbillies, & Soul Stirrers" on in my office. It's a mix of bountry, soul, rock, & roots that Gram Parsons called "Cosmic American Music." In fact, Parsons' "$1000 Wedding" is playing right now, but it also includes stuff by Kitty Wells, Otis Redding, Love, George Jones, John Hartford, Some of my other favorites:
- American Primitivism (finger-picking acoustic guitar; John Fahey, Leo Kottke, Harry Taussig, etc.)
- Bob Dylan's Record Collection (songs from Dylan's "Theme Time Radio Hour" show on XM; Muddy Waters, Dinah Washington, David Bowie, Sinatra, etc.)
- Drifting Too Far: Classic Country Lullabies (lullabies & tales of woe; Sons of the Pioneers, The Carter Family, Emmylou Harris, Doc Watson, etc.)
- Good Ol' Time Eatin' (old songs about food; Fats Waller, Louis Prima, Louis Armstrong, Charles Mingus, etc.)
- Hypnotic African Electric Guitar (African "desert blues"; Tinariwen, Bombino, Ali Farka Touré, etc.)
- Revolution After Midnight (Sixties/Seventies avant-garde jazz & proto-rap; Pharoah Sanders, Cecil Taylor, The Last Poets, etc.)
- South Side Nights (early Sixties Chicago blues and R&B; Otis Rush, Big Maybelle, Elmore James, Buddy Guy, etc.)
- Tom Petty's Record Collection (garage/soul/blues songs from Petty's "Buried Treasure" show on XM; Muddy Waters, The Who, The Stones, etc.)
- Traveling Riverside Blues (pre-electric rural/Delta blues; Leadbelly, Memphis Slim, Charley Patton, Skip James)
- Waking Up with Bossa Nova (Brazilian jazz/samba; Antonio Carlos Jobim, Elis Regina, Jorge Bern, Joäo Gilberto, etc.)
I use Spotify, but similar results. I like checking out different playlists and radio stations.
No list today, but I want to recommend the new record by The Both. I've long been a fan of Aimee Mann and Ted Leo, both, and their collaboration does not disappoint.

I had heard that and had made a mental note to check out a little more of The Hold, which I promptly forgot. Thanks for the reminder!
Smart lyrics, lots of muscular guitar, and their voices blend nicely. Plus, they had the good taste to cover an obscure (and favorite of mine) Thin Lizzy cover. I think you'll dig them.
"Milwaukee" is going on this year's summer mix.
Back when I was in college, I was in Fargo one weekend, drinking beer with my roommate. All afternoon we tipped back cheap swill and by the time we got to about 6:00, we decided to go to the Rick Springfield concert outdoors at the West Fargo Speedway. Opening act: 'Til Tuesday.
The weather got bad, so 'Til Tuesday was canceled and all we got was Rick.
Yeah, lots of beer drank that day.
