Can I say how nice it is to have a pitcher who can strike a guy out to make it easier to wiggle? Because I'm really liking the Hughes signing these days.
Good game to watch so far. Excellent start by Hughes. I like this.
Seven innings, seven hits, seven strikeouts.
Was Hughes the seventh son of a seventh son, by chance?
PLOOOUUUUFFFFEEEE
that was a BLAST
PLOUFFERDOODLE!!!111!!!
PLOUFFE'D
That's all for Hughes. Another great start. It's been awhile since we've had a guy like him.
No walks in May. 37+ innings since the last time he walked a batter.
...All without being Carlos Silva-bad at striking guys out / allowing hard contact.
What's below that? Blackbburn bad?
Yes. That.
Blackburnian.
Great play by Dozier there. Really enjoying his game play this year. At bat, obviously, but in the field, too.
He's the new market inefficiency.
I bet no one has ever made a pun of Mr. Quackenbush's last name.
I wouldn't say the same of Mrs. Quackenbush, and I'd include limericks for good measure.
Real solid game.
Seven shutout innings from the starter. Fien pitches the eighth. Perkins pitches ninth. Sounds like a recipe for success.
and a Twin hit a home run!
puppies!
sweep!
Seemed a little too easy.
First time they've won when above .500!
TWO games above .500!
Puppies!
I might not be optimistic, but I'm ready to be unrealistically hopeful!
+1 2006 season
At the time, I referred to 2006 as the greatest regular season in Twins history. Now, having 8 years to contemplate it, I reassert that 2006 was the greatest regular season in Twins history.
Greatest half season, although admittedly the first half handicap set up the tremendous second half run.
Puppies!
The Twins are now in second place for the second wild card (though tied with the Os), because Yanqmis and Jays are also tied for ALE lead.

Phil Hughes has a dandy 12-6 curveball
He's always had a good-looking curveball, but it doesn't seem like it's ever been a consistently effective swing-and-miss pitch.
Four innings without a run? Bring back steroids.
I'd think Petco would be a Hughes' favorite.
I don't think there's been a pitcher who would complain about pitching there.
69 pitches, only 16 of them balls. nice
Joe takes a walk. Wait, Kubel stole a base tonight? Then, SEND HIM!!!
thank you.
Nice call, Rhu.
Chris Colabello is going to pinch run steal a base at this rate.
Opportunity knocking...
Deep enough.
manufacturing runs!
Suzuki takes a walk. Wait, Kubel and Joe stole a base tonight? Then, SEND HIM!!!!!
Another start, still no walks.
Rhu_Ru...we'll be in your backyard for a June 28th wedding. I could probably find time for a micro-caucus.
I was wondering if you'd be back this way someday. I'd love to do that.
Just saw your bro tonight, matter of fact.
late night reading: Brian Dozier is baseball's new most underrated player
And just 1.100 major league service time.
Through 2013, anyway.

Rany Jazasomethingorother at Grantland first had me thinking the Hughes signing was a good idea.
edit: Rany Jazayerli
The best part of the Hughes deal is that he wasn't all that good for the Bronx Bombers and then he comes to Minnesota and does well.
Pavanoesque.
Except for the striking guys out part.
Heh. Pavano 2011, 222 IP, 102 SO. Hughes 2014, 47.1 IP, 40 SO.
And unfortunately, bedtime. Make it last, guys
