This morning is the first Saturday - in a long time - that I didn't get up early to do a long training run or triathlon/half marathon. I slept in. The wife got up early to do a 5K run, but this boyo is relaxing at the war desk, drinking coffee, reading Ulysses (pg 37). Will probably do a long bike ride this afternoon - but a nice change of pace - perfect weather here in Hartfordistan.
What is the Nation up to this weekend as far as fitness?
Operation Buy a Kayak went bust because the check processing company decided that the purchase was against my normal spending patterns (no shit, if I had a kayak in my purchase history, I wouldn't be buying one now) and wouldn't accept my check. The message specifically said it was not a matter of the account information or sufficiency of funds, just that they thought it was shady and wouldn't let me use a check. Of course this is an account I don't have a card for. So my plan to spend all day on the lake tomorrow is being delayed a day or two until my buddy is free to put it on his card and I can pay him.
So my buddy came through and I was able to get my kayak yesterday. I went straight from the store to the lake. It was awesome. I'm already planning on going out again tomorrow.
My boat still needs a name, so I'm all ears for suggestions. "The Seaward" has been suggested, so you can skip that joke.
Kayaks are awesome. I should use mine more.
My kayak doesn't have a name, either. Never really considered giving it one. Does your bike have a name, or is this strictly a boat-thing?
No, my bike doesn't have a name beyond "my bike". Same goes for my car. Naming a kayak might be a little unorthodox, but if the Titanic and Graf Spree can have names, so can my kayak.
I've considered Mo cadhc and Můj kajak, which are Irish and Czech, respectively, for "my kayak".
Tried to talk Der Junge into getting some indoor exercise on this rainy day before turning his brain to mush in front of the Wii. We just about did not make it through the activity (kids activity show followed by a few rounds of common exercises), but he perked up a bit as we were rolling. Turns out he believes pretty much every activity I suggest for him (exercise or otherwise) is about to be a miserable , torturous slog. I have some work to do there.
I'm fortunate to have a fitness center at work, so weekend exercise isn't as much of a priority (and the garage is too full of crap to use the equipment I have there. If I can I like to get one of the kids to go on a bike/run.
