I'd been doing 1/3-1/2 mile swims at the club for a long time, and decided about 2 months ago to ratchet it up.
I started adding an additional lap each time and got up to 31 laps, then decided to screw it and go for the mile. No problemo.
Last 6 times I've done the full 37 laps (1 mile) and it really hasn't been a problem. Not sure why I had that mental barrier all that time...
Want to do an Olympic triathlon but need to be cool/confident with the distances (1 mile swim, 26 mile bike, 10K run).
Re: endurance reading: at pg. 297 of Ulysses.
Is anyone else using any tracking apps like Runkeeper?
I am. Very useful for trying to one up Greekhouse.
Friday and Saturday did a hike and bike trip on Superior Hiking Trail.
Friday 13 miles hiking 4 miles bike. Plus two "summits" directly from Trail Head. Saturday 13 grueling mile hike and 8 mile ride with one badass summit.
Today I just finished a 35 mile ride as part of the Tour of Saints from the College of St Benedict. That's it I'm done for the day.
Dropped off the wife at the Triathlon start in Norwalk, CT early this morning (5:30) and did a hilly ride to New Canaan, CT looking for more Modern Houses. Found a couple more on Lambert Rd. But the best cache of them in a row is on Ponus Ridge.
This and yesterday's 8mi run and my quads are like an SNL sketch that has gone on too long.
Whomever added the underwater pool jpeg rocks!
I think I've finally hit the tipping point into "trying" again. Last week I played softball, went for my first run in ages, and played tennis. I would have added another run but for some stuff that came up. I've committed to doing a 5k in a little less than a month, so I need to get up to that distance. My plan for the week is: run tonight, softball tomorrow, run on Wednesday, tennis on Thursday, run on Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Weather permitting, of course. Some amount of activity every day is the goal. Play 60, and all that, right? Where I'm at right now, that's what I need. The rest of y'all intimidate me with your distances and such. But motivate me too.
I rode about 12 miles for work this morning, and ran another 3 with the dogs. All between 6:30-9:00AM. I'm beat. It's almost naptime (just one more dog today).
