We're basically at the point where we have to enroll our kids in school here despite not knowing which of three states we'll be living in. After a very busy summer it is starting to look, though, like there will be no move at all.

I undrafted this post -- hope that's okay.
You should just register the kids for school in Minnesota. Put your feet to the fire.
A fascinating article on the source of many artisanal spirits.
Thanks for sharing! I actually picked up a birthday present from one of the distilleries highlighted in the article (High West - a bottle of Barreled Manhattan) thinking they'd distilled the rye themselves. It was good, but I'm happier supporting someone who has a hand in the entire process...and making my own Manhattans.
Last week's FilmWise Invisibles answers
This week's left me falling short; only two of the eight:
X ?
? ?
? ?
? X
I'm no help.
that would have been my guess as well for 2.
Maybe? You didn't enter it and see if it gave you credit?
Yep, that's it. The only one I got right.
edit: and I recognized 1, 2, & 8 as well, but it only gave me credit for 3/8.

Another hitter fed up with Jobu.
And that's why you should always wear eye protection when woodworking.
From the comments...
Gomez funny.
Lolz on the gif.
Today's the centennary of the beginning of "The War to End All Wars."
If only.
I prefer "The Great War" myself.
I think one of my brothers has my grandfather's hardcover book with that title that was published post-WWI.
World War II, Part One
Recently watched The World Wars on H2, with this as their basic premise.
you sure that wasn't War of the Worlds??
I was referring more to the fact that The Great War is largely forgotten in the U.S., probably because it was a little more complex than us vs. the Nazi's (as was World War II); but I have heard the argument that it was really the same war with a break to grow more soldiers in the middle
Isn't the predominant theory that Germany was left so crippled that it became a breeding ground for something like the Nazi party to form? What was the alternative and would it have mattered?
Punished and humiliated, but not crippled enough so that the Nazis (or something like them) couldn't come along and build up their military enough to be an issue 20 years down the road.
the popular theory seems to have been that the Treaty of Versailles was crippling and humiliating to Germany. But I think the reality is more along the lines of the Great Depression, and policy choices made by Hindenburg's government, crushed the German economy and set the stage for Hitler's rise.
I reject that false dichotomy.
Wolves sign Mo Williams for mid-level exception to come off the bench.
meh. Defensive liability, his offense has been in decline for several years, and he'll be in his age-32 season. Maybe an improvement over JJ, but not much.

Liam Hendriks traded to the Royals. I wonder if he'll pitch this week against the Twins?
another story about the dwindling cottonwood tree population
I hate those trees (because of the cotton, and they drop sticks and branches like crazy), but understand they are needed.
Thanks for the link dw - those sorts of stories always pique my interest.
So, I'm feeling pretty good about the idea that we may have seen the end of JJ Barea wrecking fourth quarters in a wolves uniform.
I am watching the Vanimal shutting out los Gigantes. And crying a little inside.
From Gleeman:
.
Because no pitcher ever had a surprising month of good performance despite not being good. Maybe we should wait for more than 50 innings before determining if the Pirates "fixed" Worley?
Fair point and I agree it fits a little too neatly in "the Twins don't know what they are doing." narrative (of which I admit to perpetuating). But look at his minor league numbers. One could argue that Worley is performing now as expected. But yeah, let's see how Worley looks at the end of the season.
Certainly. Also to note is that he moved back to the NL. There's increased parity thanks to the worst team moving to the AL, but he still gets a free out every nine innings.
Buster Posey is wearing wedge pads on his calves. I don't recall seeing that before.
Mauer regularly wore them.
Yeah. I was thinking "what the crap, bS?" and then decided it must have been said in snark.
No. I rarely get to see the Twins. I mostly watch on radio.
So, there they are. Huh. I just don't recall noticing.
