NEW BRITAIN 2, BOWIE 0 IN NEW BRITAIN
Batting stars: Mike Gonzales was 1-for-3 with a two-run homer, his third. Eddie Rosario was 1-for-3 with a walk. Jorge Polanco was 1-for-3 with a walk.
Pitching stars: Jason Wheeler pitched 7.1 innings, giving up four hits and no walks with five strikeouts. Ryan O'Rourke struck out two in one inning, giving up a walk.
Opposition stars: Eddie Gamboa struck out seven in seven innings, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks. Niuman Romero was 1-for-3 with a walk. Glynn Davis was 1-for-2 with a double and a hit-by-pitch.
The game: The only runs of the game came in the fourth, when Tony Thomas hit a two-out single and Gonzales followed with a two-run homer. Bowie got two of their four hits in the first inning, a pair of singles that put men on first and second with two out. They got a two-out double in the second, then did not get another hit until the eighth, a double with one out.
Of note: Nate Hanson was 0-for-4. Reynaldo Rodriguez was 0-for-4.
ST. LUCIE 8, FORT MYERS 6 AT FORT MYERS (COMPLETION OF SUSPENDED GAME)
Batting stars: Aderlin Mejia was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in one. Niko Goodrum was 2-for-5 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. Dalton Hicks was 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.
Pitching star: Tim Shibuya pitched 4.1 innings, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits and no walks with three strikeouts.
Opposition stars: Eudy Pena was 2-for-4 with two home runs (his sixth and seventh) and three RBIs. Cole Frenzel was 2-for-3 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one. Gavin Cecchini was 2-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one.
The game: Mejia had an RBI double in a three-run second that put Fort Myers ahead 3-1. Each team scored once in the fifth. Maikis De La Cruz doubled in a run in the sixth to cut the lead to 4-3, but the Miracle scored two in the seventh to go up 6-3. It was all St. Lucie in the late innings, though. Jeff McNeil had an RBI single and Perez hit a two-run homer to tie it at six after eight. In the ninth, Frenzel doubled home the go-ahead run and a sacrifice fly made it 8-6. Fort Myers got the tying run up to bat in the ninth but a double play ended the game.
Of note: Travis Harrison was 1-for-2 with a walk and an RBI. Jason Kanzler was 1-for-3 with a run. Adam Brett Walker II was 1-for-5 with an RBI. Max Kepler was 1-for-4 with a run.
ST. LUCIE 6, FORT MYERS 5 IN FORT MYERS (SCHEDULED GAME--7 INNINGS)
Batting stars: Tyler Grimes was 2-for-3 with a three-run homer, his second. Travis Harrison was 1-for-3 with a walk, scoring once and driving in one. Aderlin Mejia was 2-for-4 with a run.
Pitching stars: Madison Boer struck out three in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit. D. J. Johnson pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.
Opposition stars: Gavin Cecchini was 1-for-3 with a grand slam (his fourth homer) and a walk. Jeff McNeil was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring three times. L. J. Maziili was 3-for-4 with a run and two RBIs.
The game: Two singles, an error, and Cecchini's grand slam gave St. Lucie a 4-0 lead in the first. Mazzilli singled in a run in the second to make it 5-0. In the third, Fort Myers came back with a four-run inning of its own, getting a three-run homer from Grimes and an RBI single from Adam Brett Walker II. Mazzilli singled in another run in the fourth, but Travis Harrison singled in one in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 6-5. The Miracle had men on first and third with two out and tried to tie the score on a second-and-home double steal, but Grimes was gunned down at the plate. Fort Myers did not get a man on base after that.
Of note: Dalton Hicks was 0-for-3. Walker II was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Max Kepler was 1-for-3. Starter Ethan Mildren pitched five innings, giving up six runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks with two strikeouts.
CEDAR RAPIDS 12, BELOIT 5 IN BELOIT
Batting stars: Tanner Vavra was 1-for-3 with two walks, scoring once and driving in two. Chad Christensen was 2-for-6 with a run and three RBIs. Alex Swim was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs.
Pitching stars: Ryan Eades pitched six innings, giving up two runs on nine hits and three walks with four strikeouts. Hudson Boyd pitched two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk with one strikeout.
Opposition stars: Ryan Mathews was 4-for-5 with a triple and a double, scoring once and driving in one. Melvin Mercades was 1-for-2 with a home run (his second) and three walks. Tyler Marincov was 4-for-5 with a run and an RBI.
The game: Mercades homered in the first and Mathews tripled and scored in the second to give Beloit a 2-0 lead. Christensen delivered a two-out two-run single in the third to tie the score. Cedar Rapids took control in the fifth, getting a walk and six singles (five of them consecutive) to score six times and take an 8-2 lead. They added four in the sixth four good measure, getting four singles and two errors. Beloit scored three in the seventh but did not threaten to get back into the game.
Of note: Ryan Walker was 0-for-1 with a walk. Mitch Garver was 2-for-5 with two runs and an RBI. Max Murphy was 1-for-4 with a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.

Pitching stars: Starter Zach Tillery pitched three innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Jhon Silva pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits with one strikeout. Callan Pearce pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.
Opposition stars: Angel Yepez pitched four shutout innings, giving up five hits and a walk with two strikeouts. Cade Gotta was 2-for-3 with two walks and a run.
The game: Jose Rojas doubled in a run in the second. It stayed 1-0 until the fifth, when the Rays scored four times to take control of the game. Matt Ford's three-run triple capped the inning. The lone Twins run came on a sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Of note: Joel Ramirez was 1-for-5.

Opposition stars: Leybi Martinez struck out five in four shutout innings, allowing no hits and four walks. Jorge Gil was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Rachid Engelhardt was 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI.
The game: Two singles, two errors, and a triple gave the Orioles1 a three-run second inning and a 3-0 lead. In the third, Gabriel A. Ynfante doubled and scored on a Martinez single to make it 3-1. It stayed 3-1 until the eighth, when two singles, three stolen bases, and a sacrifice fly led to two Orioles1 runs and put the game out of reach.
Of note: Jermaine Palacios was 0-for-3 with a walk. Starter Jose Martinez pitched four innings, giving up three unearned runs on six hits and a walk with one strikeout.
