We're back in Arizona after a great trip that saw Beau winning a game of Fall, Caesar, an illuminating conversation about my brother's marriage that fell apart last year, a lovely wedding for my other brother who isn't prone to falling apart and generally agreeable weather that doesn't constantly suck my will to live. It was hard to leave this time, but as a bonus, Skim didn't want to leave either, and has come to realize that Minnesota is where she belongs, too.

The milklings missed school Tuesday-Friday and we were anxious to get them back today. Flooding has cancelled school for the first time in the years since we've been here.

So...ugh. The Ray Rice thing.
This has been on ESPN all day, naturally, but we don't turn the sound up most of the time. Legally, I'm wondering exactly what's going on with this. So the NFL botched this initially and gave a guy two games for knocking his fiance the f(*k out in a public place. A few months later TMZ drops video evidence, and now it's worse?
What's more likely? Did the NFL really just think about this as a hypothetical situation when they couldn't actually see it, or did they attempt to save face re: the original mistake by reacting to the video's brutality?
Again, I'm sure the talking heads are covering this, but I haven't heard any of it.
I haven't watched/listened to any of the current coverage, but my opinion the whole time has been that the NFL had messed up with the initial investigation and subsequent suspension.
yep.
turns out, the NFL should have just hired TMZ to do the investigating.
I think the police should have as well.
Pretty much my feelings too, only as a historian I prefer the Bayeaux Tapestry version.
That's fantastic. Also, I agree with both of you. The NFL is really, really good at validating my thoughts on that.
ESPN requested the NFL provide something else besides Michael Sam to fixate on.
